Mario Monti appoints technocrats to steer Italy out of economic crisis
Mario Monti, the former European commissioner, has been sworn in as Italy's prime minister along with the ministers of his new, technocratic government, charged with steering the eurozone's most indebted nation out of danger.

The 17-strong cabinet will be able to bring to bear on Italy's daunting problems a formidable amount of intellectual fire-power. More than a third of the seats in the cabinet will be occupied by professors, including the prime minister himself. Monti, a distinguished liberal economist, kept the finance and economics portfolios. He handed the economic development and infrastructure portfolios to Corrado Passera, the chief executive of Italy's biggest retail bank, Intesa Sanpaolo.

Three of the cabinet ministers are women, and two were appointed to top jobs: Anna Maria Cancellieri as interior minister and Paola Severino as justice minister. Elsa Fornero will have heavy responsibilities as minister for welfare and employment.

Speaking after announcing his cabinet, Monti said: "We feel sure of what we have done and we have received many signals of encouragement from our European partners and the international world. All this will, I trust, translate into a calming of that part of the market difficulty which concerns our country."

The new government took office at a time when Italy was engulfed by the eurozone crisis, with its benchmark borrowing costs at an unsustainably high level of more than 7%. The swearing in of the new government made little difference to sovereign yields but it appeared to cheer the Milan bourse which closed almost 0.8% up on a day that saw Frankfurt and London lose ground.

Monti confirmed he would take on the prime ministership after two days of consultations. The uncertainties surrounding the formation of the new government were maintained to the end by a much longer than expected two-and-a-half hour meeting between the incoming prime minister and the president.

The names on the list of his ministers – most of which were unknown to members of the Italian general public – showed that Monti had failed in his attempt to involve party representatives. His cabinet was made up exclusively of non-aligned specialists.

"The absence of political personalities in the government will help rather than hinder a solid base of support for the government in parliament and in the political parties because it will remove one ground for disagreement," he said.

The economics professor turned eurocrat managed to stave off – at least temporarily – demands from the outgoing prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, and his party for the new government to have a limited programme and a fixed lifespan. The influence that Berlusconi's Freedom party will exercise over the new government was nevertheless made clear in the run-up to Wednesday's announcement.

Monti spent three hours at a meeting that finished after 2.30am, with Angelino Alfano, the secretary of Berlusconi's party, trying to reach agreement on the names of the new ministers. Berlusconi was ousted after losing his majority last week in the lower house of parliament, the chamber of deputies. But he and his former coalition allies in the Northern League can still command a majority in the senate. The prime minister will have to outline his government's programme and seek votes of confidence in both houses of parliament. The first is due to take place in the Senate on Thursday evening.

President Giorgio Napolitano asked Monti to form a government after Berlusconi's rightwing coalition lost a crucial vote in the lower house on the 2010 public accounts.

Meanwhile, Greece's new technocrat government won a confidence vote in parliament with a large majority , backing a pledge by prime minister Lucas Papademos to speed up long-term reforms and secure a massive new bailout deal involving banks and rescue creditors. In the country's 300-member parliament, 255 voted in favour of the new government formed last week by the majority socialists, rival conservatives and a small right-wing nationalist party. Only 38 voted against, while the remaining seven were absent.

Neanderthals: not stupid, just differentScientists challenge the theory that Homo sapiens was more intelligent

The established view of Neanderthals as backward, primitive, ape-like creatures is challenged today by new research showing they used stone tools as successfully as early humans.

A team from the University of Exeter, Southern Methodist University, Texas State University and the Think Tank Corporation spent three years producing stone tools to compare their use.

Their work suggests the tools Neanderthals used were just as efficient, if not more so, than those developed by Homo sapiens.

Homo sapiens and Neanderthals used flint stone tools known as "flakes'' made from fragments struck from a larger stone ''core''.

Homo sapiens later adopted ''blades'', which were flakes with parallel edges twice as long as they were wide and were thought to be more efficient.

The group tested the cutting ability and rate of manufacture of the two tools, and the findings, published in the Journal of Human Evolution today, show no statistical difference in the efficiency of the two technologies and, in some respects, the flakes used by the Neanderthals were more efficient.

Archaeologist Metin Eren from the University of Exeter said: "Our research disputes a major pillar holding up the long-held assumption that Homo sapiens were more advanced than Neanderthals.''

"It is time for archaeologists to start searching for other reasons why Neanderthals became extinct while our ancestors survived. Technologically speaking, there is no clear advantage of one tool over the other. When we think of Neanderthals we need to stop thinking in terms of 'stupid' or 'less advanced' and more in terms of 'different'."

Neanderthals vanished from Europe 28,000 years ago. By then, they had lived beside humans for about 10,000 years.

Research shows that, like modern humans, they had their own culture, used tools and hunted animals with weapons. It is possible they may even have spoken a rudimentary language.

The belief that Homo sapiens was more intellectually advanced than Neanderthals has persisted for decades.

The scientists believe early modern humans adopted new technology more for cultural or symbolic than practical reasons.

"Colonising a continent isn't easy. Colonising a continent during the Ice Age is even harder. So, for early Homo sapiens colonising Ice Age Europe, a new shared and flashy-looking technology might serve as one form of social glue by which larger social networks were bonded.

"Thus, during hard times and resource droughts, these larger social networks might act like a type of 'life insurance', ensuring exchange and trade among members on the same 'team.'

In recent years, many long-held views about why Neanderthals became extinct have been debunked, with research revealing they were as good at hunting as Homo sapiens and had no clear disadvantage in their ability to communicate.

One of science's most puzzling mysteries - the disappearance of the Neanderthals - may have been solved. Modern humans ate them, says a leading fossil expert.

The controversial suggestion follows publication of a study in the Journal of Anthropological Sciences about a Neanderthal jawbone apparently butchered by modern humans. Now the leader of the research team says he believes the flesh had been eaten by humans, while its teeth may have been used to make a necklace.

Fernando Rozzi, of Paris's Centre National de la Récherche Scientifique, said the jawbone had probably been cut into to remove flesh, including the tongue. Crucially, the butchery was similar to that used by humans to cut up deer carcass in the early Stone Age. "Neanderthals met a violent end at our hands and in some cases we ate them," Rozzi said.

The idea will provoke considerable opposition from scientists who believe Neanderthals disappeared for reasons that did not involve violence. Neanderthals were a sturdy species who evolved in Europe 300,000 years ago, made complex stone tools and survived several ice ages before they disappeared 30,000 years ago - just as modern human beings arrived in Europe from Africa.

Some researchers believe Neanderthals may have failed to compete effectively with Homo sapiens for resources, or were more susceptible to the impact of climate change. But others believe our interactions were violent and terminal for the Neanderthals. According to Rozzi, the discovery at Les Rois in south-west France provides compelling support for that argument.

Previous excavations revealed bones that were thought to be exclusively human. But Rozzi's team re-examined them and found one they concluded was Neanderthal. Importantly, it was covered in cut marks similar to those left behind when flesh is stripped from deer and other animals using stone tools.

Rozzi believes the jawbone provides crucial evidence that humans attacked Neanderthals, and sometimes killed them, bringing back their bodies to caves to eat or to use their skulls or teeth as trophies. "For years, people have tried to hide away from the evidence of cannibalism, but I think we have to accept it took place," he added.

But not every team member agrees. "One set of cut marks does not make a complete case for cannibalism," said Francesco d'Errico, of the Institute of Prehistory in Bordeaux. It was also possible that the jawbone had been found by humans and its teeth used to make a necklace, he said.

"This is a very important investigation," said Professor Chris Stringer, of the Natural History Museum, London. "We do need more evidence, but this could indicate modern humans and Neanderthals were living in the same area of Europe at the same time, that they were interacting, and that some of these interactions may have been hostile.

"This does not prove we systematically eradicated the Neanderthals or that we regularly ate their flesh. But it does add to the evidence that competition from modern humans probably contributed to Neanderthal extinction."

I have not been bloging for some time now coz i kinda fed up with the way things are... what gave me motivation to blog again is todays news in star biz.... one of them is that a foreign company been appointed to tell Malaysian Government n the appointed companies to do the bloody job if they can do the project in a more 'smarter n cheaper way or not'.

PETALING JAYA: McKinsey & Co has been hired as consultants to carry out the value management study (VMS) on the mass rapid transit (MRT) project.

This was revealed by Azmi Abdul Aziz, the chief development officer of Public Land Transport Commission (SPAD) in his presentation at the Greater KL: Smart City of The Future Conference on Monday.

The VMS is an important element in SPAD's plan to ensure that the MRT is carried out in the most cost-efficient way.

“The (MRT) project on its own is not viable but this is not something new. It is proven in the experience of other countries,” Azmi said. “So we are putting in efforts to ensure that the construction cost is minimised. Part of that effort is the engagement of McKinsey for work on the VMS.”

“We will be looking at land development and property development to help bring down the cost. It will be a rail-plus-property project.

“We will have fare and non-fare income from things like advertising and will ensure the maintenance cost is kept at optimum levels,” he said.

In an earlier interview with StarBiz, SPAD chief executive Mohd Nur Ismal Kamal had explained: “One interesting mechanism being used for the MRT project is the VMS, where an independent party will scrutinise the project plans and ensure that the optimum value is derived.”

He also said the VMS will help decide the selection of the proposed alignment and station locations to “make cost most effective” but at the same time, also consider the factor of helping unlock the full potential of real estate values in locations where the stations are located.

“The VMS will also design a procurement policy which will ensure cost savings and prevent any extravagant spending,” Mohd Nur said.

Another aspect of the VMS is that it will help with the early identification of non-fare box revenue.

“Such revenue will include rental or sale of property surrounding stations which can significantly contribute to future expansion of the network and system maintenance and upgrades.

“This kind of practice is again not new. About one third of the revenue of Hong Kong's Mass Transit Rail system is not from ticket sales, while in Tokyo the non-fare revenue is as high as 80%,” Mohd Nur told StarBiz.

“With all these steps being taken by the Government, it is hoped that the MRT project will delivered to the rakyat on time for them to enjoy its full benefits at the lowest possible cost,” he said.

Let me share with you the history of Value Management(VM)in Malaysia...

Dr Mazlan is the guy tht introduce in Malaysia way back in 1990s.

I organised VM conferences n workshop together with him and Dr Mazlan continue the effort to save billions of ringgit for the Malaysia Government thru his consultancy and workshops...

He have saved rm 1.6 billion for the KLIA 2 project when he was appointed by the EPU and MAHB. He saved hundred of millions on other project in JKR, UNiversities, TNB and many more...

He infact introduce VM to the Gov via EPU and present it to the Prime Minister untill VM methodology has been made mandatory requirements by the EPU for projects etc costing rm50mil and above. In fact it has been announced by the PM as one of the supporting pillars during the 11th Majlis Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam Conference on March 2010.

He even ca,e out in papers n TV talk shows on this matter...

My point is this:

1. Why waste money and appoint a foreign company when we have a anak melayu whom have done a greattrac record for saving billions for the government.

2. does the foreign company appointed got any VM knowledge or work done in malaysia to be claimed be able to study and carry on the VM framework?

3. Dr Mazlan have ofcoz tried to offer its service by sending his profile etc after discussing with mgt of prasarana back in december but no news... why?

4. how the does the appointment done? any bid? rfp done?

5. is there arent any communications between the EPU and SPAD or Prasarana since its a National and most expensive project...if they do why cant epu or mof share their success via dr mazlan VM framework and saved rm1.6bil for the KLIA 2 project.... why??

i am taking few action steps for justice to prevail to fight for the truth and honesty in thias project n leave no room for leakages especially involved billions of Rakyat money!

May GOD/the Creator bless his soul and reace and peace to the dun tenang guy (Allahyarham Datuk Sulaiman Taha) tht have just passed away..my condolences to the family...

I dont know this guy nor i know much about Malaysian Politics BUT i know bout this when i heard in the news that the guy died just yesterday....

The News was showing his family was in tears at the cemetary and there were praying for him BUT the subtitle and the newscaster were talking bout how BN and PKR is ready for a by election or something and getting ready their strategy and statistics to get voters and they will not gonna wait to replace a new candidate asap..

I was disgusted by this!

call me naive but this is just not humane...

Imagine the feeling of the family hearing all this in the news...

Instead of hearing how the nation or BN, etc showing sympathy and a moment of silence or something... the party that the guy working for is already prepapring to replace him immediately bcoz of worry tht the DUn will be taken over by opposition!

pls show some compassion or atleast pls try ... try to act caring towards the feeling of the guy's family!

the guy just died and u talk bout wiining a potical rush!!!!

I was shocked to know that the government wants to build a 100 storey building in KL!
Malaysian government is famous for ‘building’ things.

We built:

Tallest Telecom Tower aka KL Tower
Tallest ‘Twin Towers”
Longest Bridge
Mega Government Administration City – Putrajaya
Mega Malaysian Owned ‘Silicon Valley’ – Cyberjaya
International Standard Air Ports
F1 Circuits
International Standards Stadiums
International Standard Convention Centres

How does these developments generate our economy?
Do we need a 100 storey building?

We also once built:

Zoo Negara
Museum Negara
Primary Schools
Secondary Schools
Hundreds of Thousands of Shop Offices

What is the status of these developments and the maintainance!
Do we need a 100 storey building?

'We' were also once promised:

That there will be no more poverty in this country

There are approx. 26 million Malaysians celebrating Malaysia Day for the first time after 53 years of independence...

Congratulation to all Malaysians!

Like any other country that practices 'demo cracy’, a government runs the country and is lead by one trusted man to grow the country to its best future!

Imagine … one man to rule them all

A power that is mightier than a king!

But this man have one problem..

He is obliged to those who votes for him… and that is the Rakyat! (and not his friends in politics that favors him)

He and his team of course got one more BIG problem…

The ‘opposition’ ….

One element that would like to take over the helm of running the country.

Their quest have been getting stronger than ever as they always claim that they can and will do better than the current ‘existing’ government!

The big question is… can they?

Can they be a better government?

Should the Rakyat give them a chance?

Should the current leadership in the rulling party pause for a moment and do the most drastic thing by listening to the heart of the Rakyat and do whats best for the nation and not his peers?

Is what have done enough?

shall he gets new advisors? i think he does!

A big decision to make…

Will Malaysia be a developed nation by 2020

i was shock (well not really) to know that 66,000 puteri umno have not registered as a voter!

i wonder how many putera and umno members whom have not registered too!

How about the rest of the party's member under the BN payung...have not registered too?

i am not sparking or triggering anything here but i really want to ask them the main reason or intention or the malay called it NIAT for this people to register themselves in a political party.... either the rulling party or the other party!

if you are not a member of this political party i can understand why u are not a registered voters (various reasons) BUT i think there is NO excuse for this party members to not registered themselves as a voters...it just doesnt make sense!

Of coz i can give one oppinion for this 'mystery' is that their NIAT to register as a member in a political party is not a sincere intention and not 100% shared the same objective and mission of the respective party.

I am not a member of any political party.

Even though friends / families / etc have been advising and pursuading me to be a member but i refused!

You do not need to be a member in any organisation to contribute to your community or in other words helping people!

You wanna make money or networking...GO JOIN BIZ CLUBS OR CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE NOT POLITICAL PARTY...

But of coz some did told me that i am naive and not suit to be a bizmen..... hmmm... so much of standing in what u believe in.... some how i think more and more humans just lost their principles in life.

Again i would like to stress the point that u do not have to be a member in any political party to help people!

For more than 15 years i have done my bit of social responsibility in Malaysia. In the near future i will do my best to go beyond borders :) Insya Allah...

Dream Country

After my discussion with some friends tonite on the future for Malaysia...I decided to make my older post current...

Malaysia needs a change in the way their federal government operates...

MPs who won in elections should continue to serve the people that they represents as they been given the 'people's trust'!

This will ensure that the people or the 'rakyat' will be heard and been taken care off.... indirectly will ensure a good and healthy community hence ensuring a good society and Malaysia will become a good country to live in .... A dream country that the government in sincerely CARE for its people!

On the job for running the 'government' to ensure a good economic growth for Malaysia.... professionals will be given the task to handle this and lead each ministries to achieve its targets...and NOT LEAD BY POLITICIANS... coz its easy to sacked a Minister CEO but its difficult to sacked a minister politician!

The Professionals will be industry experts and shall lead the relevant ministries!

A change is needed for the survival of Malaysia as a whole!

Will this ever be possible?

Religion Talks

I was suppose to go for a buka puasa function today (atleast i tot i was)

But instead i had a long conversation with my dutch friend about religion :)

He is a proud Christian

But of coz growing up in Holland does not much help him to 'embrace' the religion as much as he is now...

He get himself back into the 'light' some many years ago when he came back to Malaysia sometime in 1994... the irony of embracing Christianity in Malaysia to compare in any country huh...(just a figure of speech ya :))

Like most of the time when we meet...it will start with business meeting and then family and always end up with our famous 'religion talks' as i think he is trying to 'convert' me into Chritianity :)

Of coz i cant express my full tots in this blog as a friend of mine dah kena 'marked' for doing so so i will be as details asi could...

Like any other Religion talks....either @ starbucks, kopitiam or even at a religious debate talk shows/rally(ie. Ahmad Deedat's famous talks) the discussion would never end with both party have their own sellfish satisfaction on the subject matter!

Why is this?

One of the reason is because we are used to think like how we have been brought up!

Its a simple mindset ...

We would ONLY agree on facts that we are used to known in our life and will only acknowledged the facts that we believe on ... tougue twister eh :)

But that is just being a typical judgemental human beings

Humans like to judge and as much as they try not too they will judge more ...

and i am not just talking bout him and myself...humans generally...

But ofcoz to have a 'healthy' conversation on religion one must be extremely open on one's thought of the subject matter...

Back to me and the dutch guy religion talks:

we suppose to have a quick one hour chat on biz etc and end up with the longest religion talks that we ever had...from a non drink conversation to having a coffee at starbucks to ending up with dinner and both of us were late to go back to our family to have dinner ith them!

Our wives keep on calling us 'waiting' and mine reminded me to pick up my son from his god family house.

i think this was the deepest conversation we ever had and definitely the longest!

but as i said earlier... religion talks never ends with satisfaction but we always feel good talking bout it coz we were both are very open on the topic... but i did leave him with a very deep thoughts on one of the posibilities on the origin and the reason of a religion and the effect on humans and what have happen in this world... that thought i cant share in here :)

at the end of the day...why bother what religion u are in.... stop pondering if u are and just start do something in this world that will benefit others and the people that need yr help either money or time or effort and careness.

start to care...why not.... search for the answer ... what's the purpose of life?

mark my words the future is NOT good based on this history trends on GLC loosing money here and there... future for gov reserves would not be enough for a BIG ECONOMIC HIT that might come....

We all need to CARE what we are doing now for the sake of our future generations!

We do have our 'decision makers' CARE about the future...

Malaysia Gov Subsidies CUT PLAN

Why cut subsidy when u can cut operation cost!

It’s a simple common sense to cut something to gain something else…

So why must cut something that the Rakyat been living with so that to gain the ‘contractors’ and the vultures richness that set a high budget for operations?

Of coz some economist and biz thinkers so called have said this move will be good on long run blab la bla…

Wake up la!

I dont have to start about billions lost via GLCs and gov projects!

PAUSE Malaysia….PAUSE….re visit… analyze yr plans!

Obama: will he loose his international support over Israel's issue?

The whole world was happy (well most of us) when Obama became the President of the United States of America... making him the CEO of the world leaders in making the 'power decisions'....

Of coz since he is in POWER... alot have been done to make america as the best place in the world... and his policies and bills have done good to most americans especially on the health benefits and all ...

Now he needs to continue his 'CHANGE' effort to make not just America as the best country to live in But the whole world should be safe and fair place to live in...

He now need to make an important decision of making a 'CHANGE' for the live of palestinians and making a turn of event of non-supportive of ISRAEL from now on...

I hope he, as the CEO of the world power will make the best decision and make the impossible ... possible!

I also pray that GOD will give him and other world power leaders to take a fair action against Israel and stop the sufferings of the palestinians once and for all!

Israel rejects multinational inquiry

Israel on Sunday flatly rejected a proposed international inquiry into its deadly commando raid of a Gaza-bound aid ship last week, in which nine activists were killed.

“Israel has the ability and the right to investigate itself, not to be investigated by any international board,” Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the US, told Fox News Sunday.

“I don’t think the United States would want an international inquiry into its military activities in Afghanistan, for example.”

Mr Oren’s remarks came a day after Ban Ki-moon, the secretary-general of the United Nations, proposed establishing a multi-national probe that would be headed by Geoffrey Palmer, the former prime minister of New Zealand and a maritime law expert, according to Israeli government officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The offer called for the committee to include representatives from Israel, the US and Turkey, under whose flag the ship in which most of the violence took place was sailing.

Mr Ban’s offer followed criticism of the Obama administration’s role last week in blunting the UN Security Council’s response to the commando raid. A senior official for the Obama administration told the Financial Times that there were no “serious disagreements” between Israel and the US in their private talks over the composition of the panel.

But the White House official added: “What we are seeking is an Israeli investigation that is credible and transparent and would include an international element.”

Meanwhile, the government of Turkey, which has been at loggerheads with the US over its allegedly one-sided role in the crisis, on Sunday strongly backed Mr Ban’s proposal. “This is not an issue between Turkey and Israel, it is a problem between Israel and international community,” Ahmed Davutoglu, Turkey’s foreign minister, told CNN on Sunday. “It is a problem between Israel and international law”.

Mr Davutoglu added that he was disappointed with America’s role in the last week. “Until now, of course, we were expecting a much more proactive approach [from Mr Obama] in responding to this crisis.”

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli’s prime minister, told cabinet ministers from his right-wing Likud party on Sunday that “nothing has been finalised or decided so far. We have to make these decisions calmly without the pressure of events,” according to a senior official who took part in the meeting.

In addition, Israel would not agree to a “Goldstone-like” inquiry of the raid, referring to the UN-mandated investigation headed by former South African judge Richard Goldstone into Israel’s three-week onslaught in the Gaza Strip that ended in January 2009. Israel had dismissed the resulting report, which had accused it and Hamas of war crimes, as biased and false.

Although I have in my travels seen abject poverty in such diverse places as Addis Ababa, Dhaka, Dar es Salaam, Kolkata, Mumbai and Manila, I must confess to a feeling of utter revulsion and anger when confronted by stark deprivation in our supposedly well-governed and prosperous Malaysia.

The pockets of rural poverty in the Malay heartlands of Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu are islands of prosperity compared to the scene that churned my stomach and assailed my sense of guilt and outrage when I first ventured into the Iban long houses on the majestic Rejang.

It is not enough that we have robbed them of their ancestral lands and impoverished them in the process, but we also felt constrained to strip them naked of any residual personal dignity that they might still have by introducing policies that have succeeded in reducing them to the fringes of mainstream economic life.

The Orang Asli tribes and the Orang Hulu, the Malays from the interior, have a great deal in common with their Dayak friends. For all we care, they are Malaysia’s forgotten people, but not quite. Whenever an election is underway, be it a by-election or a general election, they find themselves the centre of attention, in great demand by the rich and powerful, all claiming to love and care for them.

Before the day is out, they are the proud possessors of a handful of crisp 50 ringgit notes. Four or five hundred ringgit is a princely sum to them, a king’s ransom, no less, in exchange for their votes. If some of them have become cunning, manipulative supplicants and sacrificed their values for a fistful of ringgit, remember it is we who have corrupted them.

Years of exposure to extreme poverty and unbridled exploitation have rendered many of these once proud and noble people, nature’s gentlemen, inured and insensitive to their own traditional values and value systems. They are reduced to living from hand to mouth, on handouts, from day to day.

What a tragedy to befall a people whose only sin is to trust those sworn to protect their native rights. They are bewildered to find themselves dispossessed, as their land is taken away without as much as “by your leave” for commercial exploitation by the towkay friends of the powerful.

Talking to many of them, the Ibans, I mean, I believe the only way we can restore their pride and dignity is by providing opportunities for regular employment. We are dealing with an ancient people with a distinctive culture. Even those among them whose lives have taken on an urban aspect continue to cling strenuously to their traditional practices. We who are strong have a duty to help the weak by not foisting on the Ibans and others our culture of corruption and other despicable practices.

Some years ago, an Indonesian anti-corruption activist friend of mine visited our country during the 11th general elections, as part of a privately funded election observer mission. His group spent a great deal of time in Sarawak and Sabah and told me that he was shocked by the scale of vote buying.

I was greatly embarrassed by his revelation because at an anti-corruption conference in The Hague at which I was invited to speak and he was a participant some two months earlier, I had said that while vote buying was rampant in party elections, the practice was unknown in general and state elections.

I was unbelievably naïve to believe the Barisan Nasional government propaganda. The scale of vote-buying must have been so massive as to shock my Indonesian anti-corruption fighter, used as he was to living and working in a corruption-infested nation. It is not that easy to shock an Indonesian over a corruption issue. But unlike Malaysia, Indonesia is on the mend as far as fighting corruption is concerned. In Malaysia, on the contrary, it is in indecently robust health.

Malaysia is blessed with rich natural resources and poverty as we have seen in Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu can only be explained in terms of governance grounded on corruption and political excesses. When we look at the personal wealth accumulated by Chief Minister Taib of Sarawak at one extremity and the Ibans at the other, one begins to wonder what the future holds for Malaysia. I am not at all sanguine.

The thieving and plundering by those in power must stop because, as history tells us, it is only a matter of time before the forbearance of the long suffering poor takes on an ugly aspect, with consequences too dreadful to contemplate. The Government of Malaysia and the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak in particular can alleviate poverty by governing in the sole interest of the people. yes i know that GTP is the solution so to speak but frankly i am not that happy with it as there so many important issues and implementation strategies develop by the team is very much doubtfull!

one of the key factor that they missed out is the 'caringness' of the disabled or wht the gov or the media like to labeled 'OKU'.... In their main pillar of CHANGE or TRANFORMATION they missed this out! duuring the launching of the GTP at sunway hotel few months ago i did point this out to the CEO of the GTP and his officers... ofcoz he told me tahnk you this and that but i still dont see much change have been done... i think an independent audit committee need to look at the GTP implementation process if not it will be just another IDEA goes down the drain coz of bad IMPLEMENTATION!

Sibu: after the by-election

SIBU by election result was a slap to BN leaders...

Opposition received 2942 more votes compared to the 8 March general elections while the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) or (BN) received only 691 less votes. DAP was able to win as 70% Chinese voters gave their support to DAP, the party was able to gain its first victory in Sarawak.

Basically Sibu is just one of the district that is poorly develop in Sarawak... in fact there is so many district in Malaysia as a whole tht are desperately need of development and growth.

The Rakyat living in this locations have been waiting for ages for some creative and innovative ideas from the government to develop their homeground so that their livelyhood will become better and they too can be part of the malaysian business eco-system instead of trying their level best to survive in life in their petty daily jobs and business...

BN win in hulu selangor for me is by pure luck as the margin of their victory is very very small! BN's luck ran out in Sibu simply bcoz the Rakyat has spoken! they want a change as for ages they have been waiting for development as even their local issues like floods etc have not been resolved and lots of lifestocks, etc lost whenever big floods occur.

I still believe in BN but i really think that PM should let go a few no result and no sincere heart leaders and replace them with leaders who believe in honesty as a way of life and will develop their nation with the interest of the Rakyat and not his pockets and his ego!

The big question now is ... is it logical for PM to 'locate' these 'saints'?

is it logical for this appointed 'saints' to do their job without 'making money' for themselves so that they can 'buy' their way in and out situations, etc...???

The answer is simple...

Whenever you do things with good heart and good intention (NIAT) anything u do will be blessed by the CREATOR and any obstacle comes in your way...u will have the wisdon to handle it with open mind and with full of calm!

18 may 2010; Pakatan Rakyat (PR) was really annoyed recently. It suffered a defeat in the Hulu Selangor by-election while some of its members withdrew or switched parties, and a PKR Member of Parliament (MP) even revealed corruption in the Selangor-owned Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB). Barisan Nasional (BN) had been ridiculing it but the victory in the Sibu by-election this time has greatly boosted its morale.

The victory in the Sibu by-election has an enormous political significance to PR. It shows that PR is still influential and it is not that easy for BN to retrieve the two-thirds majority.

Wong Ho Leng received 2942 more votes compared to the 8 March general elections while the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) received only 691 less votes. DAP was able to win because the turnout rate has increased by 3%. As 70% Chinese voters gave their support to DAP, the party was able to gain its first victory in Sarawak.

There are national and local factors for BN's defeat:

1.Chinese voters hope to consolidate the two-party system: As BN is proceeding forward, PR's parliamentary seats have been reduced to 77. The withdrawal of Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong from PKR before the polling started has caused BN a step closer to the two-thirds majority.

It is believed that some voters voted for PR as they wanted to maintain checks and balances. Interests of the minority will, after all, be better protected under a two-party system.

2.Local factors: Even though Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had visited Sibu for three times, the "1Malaysia" concept takes time to bring effects and thus, it is unable to offset the impact of local factors.

Sibu has been lack of development in recent years and the flooding problem has not yet been resolved. These are issues concerned by voters.

3.DAP's election strategy is effective: After learning a lesson from the Hulu Selangor by-election, DAP started its election mechanism earlier this time. Under the leadership of party adviser Lim Kit Siang, leaders of all levels were fully mobilised to fight for votes during the election campaign. And their efforts bore fruits.
DAP has become an election expert after experiencing a lot of election battles over all these years, particularly the battle in Tanjung, Penang. DAP's motto of "Sibu for change" has won the hearts of the voters.

In contrast, SUPP's campaign strategy has failed to keep up the pace of voters. Chinese voters have been immune to the Islamic state issue. It is useless to play up the Islamic state issue now.

DAP's victory in the by-election has improved its status in PR as when PR is gradually defeating, it has won the Sibu parliamentary seat and at the same time, it has become the largest component party of PR with 29 parliamentary seats.

The victory in Sibu has also strengthened the cooperation of PR's component parties in Sarawak. It can help them to resolve the conflicts earlier.

However, PR should not conclude based on only a by-election that the 8 March political tsunami has reached Sabah and Sarawak, giving it an opportunity to seize the Sarawak state power, as Sibu is a Chinese constituency but Iban and Melanau voters are still supporting BN.

If PR is unable to spread its message of change to inland areas, BN will still be able to hold tight the state power of Sarawak.

BN won the Hulu Selangor by-election but lost the Sibu by-election. It shows that the BN government still needs to step up the efforts to reform. Particularly, it needs to focus on the implementation of the New economic Model (NEM) and 10th Malaysia Plan to avoid too many of political disputes.

Politic-a-bit: Hulu Selangor by election

I do not like to talk about politics much but after reading so many blogs, news and articles for the past 2 weeks on the election i just need to blog on this issue...

Barisan Nasional won the by-election by a 'majority' of 1,725.

I wonder why almost all keep on using the word 'majority' as the word suppose to use is just 'merely' 1,725 and that's it!

BN got 24,997 votes, the opposition managed to get 23,272 votes. Obviously the Rakyat is still very much 'supporting' the opposition...

The question is WHY BN only won by one thousand plus from a a large constituency of 63,701!

The task force and the leaders of BN must do a FULL study on this as it is very important to NOT just thinking about winning and only provide spur moment of hope to the people... The leaders should start to 'turun padang' every week and listen to the voice of the Rakyat and NOT only turun padang and smile only during elections...

I have a second family in Sik, Kedah... and my 'mom's' house had been a victim of a road development work.. the work was not done well and muds slide goes in her house and mud flood have ruin her furnitures etc... she have lodged complaints to various authority including the state minister's office then but no action been taken... i did ask her why does this happen; and the only thing she could say was the MB do not turun padang and only listen to his advisors in his office only and only been receiving 'good news' from the rakyat and not the real news...

I really hope now since BN have won back Perak, hulu selangor and maybe more constituency >>> please make sure leaders of BN << do not take the Rakyat for granted... be sincere and honest in delivering your job as a leader for the people and not busy being bias

I sometimes wonder why do people working so hard to be different...

Most of them is geared by EGO so ppl will so call admire them just simply bcoz they are diferent

But one thing that i do not understand is tht why cant leaders make the necessary CHANGES for the benefit of others and not for what they think is right...

I think leaders should start to be a good listener instead of good doers!

This is what make the people keep on disapointed with the government or leaders as they just dont LISTEN! and keep on doing what they or their 'advisors' think is right!

Listen leaders...Listen... then study the issues well with good advices by true genuine advisors... then only react and take actions...followed by evaluations..etc!

MPs who won in elections should continue to serve the people that they represents as they been given the 'people's trust'!

This will ensure that the people or the 'rakyat' will be heard and been taken care off.... indirectly will ensure a good and healthy community hence ensuring a good society and Malaysia will become a good country to live in .... A dream country that the government in sincerely CARE for its people!

On the job for running the 'government' to ensure a good economic growth for Malaysia.... professionals will be given the task to handle this and lead each ministries to achieve its targets...and NOT LEAD BY POLITICIANS... coz its easy to sacked a Minister CEO but its difficult to sacked a minister politician!

A change is needed for the survival of Malaysia as a whole!

Will this ever be possible?

One should always read and learn the history of the world...

History of mankind...

and also the history of religion...

In Malaysia, a country where the citizens was originally hindus (long time ago) is one example of their citizens do not have a good understanding of the history of themselves.... The History of the Islam religion and the true meaning of Islam.

When we were young, we do not have any much say about religion but just to listen to our 'religous' educators and to pray and of course to recite the Quran.

I myself finish reciting the Quran 3 times...

Even once i did it in a month during Ramathan...

But then i started 'thinking'.... hey, i dont know what i am reciting....

And i think majority of the malays that claim muslims also do not know the kitab!

this is simply we do not speak Arabic... a small minority of the millions of malays just do not know how to read what more undertsand Arabic words...

I suggest that the gov must really look into the AGAMA class modules in primary or at least in Secondary now as its IMPORTANT for the muslims to know what is inside the Kitab!

With all the things that happening now in this country i really think that all muslim must start to read the content of the kitab and not just reciting it!

Once they understand the true meaning of ISLAM then they will understand that GOD or what i like to call always, the CREATOR wants from us!

so... READ!

Merry x mas to all...

Nowadays, more and more companies implement CSR initiatives and one of them is my wife BPO company (wife dont want me to mention the Co name)

My wife works there as one of the 'key' and most VIP women there... (hehe over proud husband).

Every festive season a bunch of them will go visit some orphans, etc to spend time with them and give them presents... oh yeah its part of their KPIs... sheesh!

Well the thought that counts:)

This x mas they went to one of the homes in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya that provide CARE to the elderly, physically challenged people and under priviledge kids.

My wife, Miss Renuka Shanmugam and her colleagues went as early as 8.30am to the centre and spend half a day chatting and just being with 'them' in the spirit of x mas.. (and maybe even for the KPIs)...

But ofcoz after a few hours spending time there Renuka and some of her friends cant stand and keep on crying after the officers there shared some of the 'stories' of the humans who have been staying there either by force or by 'chance'!

Renu cried expecially she saw a cute baby that was given away to the centre... the mother was a foreigner and had an affair with another foreigner and both 'parents' do not want the child for reasons of their own selfish thinking! Renu keep on sharing with me her 'experience' at the centre and i cant help thinking how much my 'baby' have matured and now CARE about 'strangers'! Im so very proud of her spending almost a whole day with 'them' instead of 24 7 worrying about her datelines in her projects at the Company...

But one of the thing that she told me is that the centre did not receive any support financially from the government except for some so called 'moral support' or what ever that means!

I still dont understand WHY the government not supporting them!

I told my wife that i will go there next week and 'interview' the centre manager for more inputs and i will find out more details and help them get somethings from the gov. InsyAllah..

GTP and the Driver's (PEMANDU) Driver!

The 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmap will be launched at the end of next month.

Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) will 'release' the roadmap on Pemandu's website after getting feedback from the public on new ideas or conditions that the government was not aware of.... or 'blur' with!

Over 7,000 nationwide activities along with over 2,000 projects and 100 programmes identified for the six National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) are being showcased to the public at the GTP Open Day at the Sunway Convention Centre. The 1st day was dedicated ONLY to 'invited' NGOs and guest and the 2nd day for Rakyat!

I went for the 1st day as a 'gate crasher' and the 2nd day as an 'observer'.

First of all i dont undertand why the driver's driver or the CEO of PEMANDU descriminate the Rakyat by having the 'special' invitation NGOs and guest on the first day and the 'normal' public on the second day! i mean here we are on the spirit of 1 Malaysia and opennes bla bla bla and the first thing u do is to seperate the days by the invited guest and the tom dick and harry of malaysia!

There was a lot of public walk-ins anyways as there was no restrictions to enter the hall! so whats the point of having 2 seperate invitations where they should have simply a 2 Open day event for rakyat!

Back to the 1st day:
I was 'wearing two hats' that day... one: activist mindset for the elderly and the physically challenge community (Malaysian gov like to labeled them as OKU).... two:activist mindset to combat crime!

After a big launch done by a few VIPs (including ofcourse the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and Chairman of pemandu, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon; Chief Executive Officer of the Pemandu Board, Datuk Seri Idris Jala, and former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) i met the CEO and express my dissapointments to what have been missed by the think tank of the GTP.... there is no main agenda to make this country a dissabled friendly nation. ie the transportation masterplan did not include for malaysian public transport to be dissabled friendly and yet more 'so call smart card system' is being proposed, etc..

Of coz the think tank of GTP will defend by saying that the plan today may have certain imperfections which will need amendments.... BUT my point is that to CARE for the elderly and the physically challenge community is not a rocket science for it not to be included and displayed on the first place!

2nd day:
I saw lots of bloggers, media and general public were there and nice of the CEO to give unexpected impromtu speech. I might say it was good and full of sincerity in his face!

But one thing for sure ... sincerity and good intention alone without a good master plan and a good implementation process is just simply an empty hope!

So lets work together to make Malaysia the best country for our own sake!

Below are simple solutions for the 6 major elements of CHANGE:

No.1 Reducing Crimes:

a. patrol police officers to be on alert for robbers and snatchers instead of 'traffic offenders'!

b. more pondok police with police officers in it and not just empty pondok!

c. snathers/robbers to be lock up and not able for easy release by the police stations

Note: is personal now as my wife was rob at a traffic light near one utama! the robbers smash her passesnger car window and took the handbag and tried to get in but my wife accelerated and hit a car infront coz the robber to panic and fled)

The 'Untouchable'

You might be thinking that I am writing about the movie or some corporate or even political society... nothing close!

I was in bahrain last few weeks ago and was watching the National Geographic in my hotel room and the documentary on them and program was titled The ‘untouchables’.

They are the poorest the low caste society in India and they are labeled, the ‘untouchables’... they work as labourer either in the construction site, mines or at the padi fields.

National Geographic interviewed one of them, Mr. Krishnan.

Krishnan is a 56 years old man and a family man. He live in a small old hut with his wife and his 4 kids. His job is at the padi field as a rat hunter!

The sad part of his job is that he have been a rat hunter for all his life (since he was 5 years old). All of them been eating rat to survive as they only get so little money for the job for a living. In fact few of his neighbour who also shares the same fate as him also eat rat as they is no way for them to buy chicken, etc in the market.

They will catch the rat and burn them and once the fur easy to be taken out then they will cut it like a chicken and cooked it with curry and eat with rice that been donated to them.

Even his 4 yrs old gdaughter eating it happily as she might think that that’s the only thing (meat) available in this world.

I felt very sad helplessly in my hotel room to see all this unbalanced world as we have human being who live like this and we have humans who lives in richness and fame...

But one thing that i dont understand is that why cant anyone help this people by teaching them on how to plant some vegetables and give them small piece of land near their huts so that they can eat that as its better than eating rats!

I remembered watching one program in TV3 (i think its called bersama mu or something) where there is one family in one of the states in malaysia eating snails for a living coz of their poor living conditions. I mean we are talking about Malaysia here! But ofcourse the 'bersama mu' team give them food and money.. BUT they should have teach them on how to plant vegetables instead of giving rice and money that will not last!

This is one of the thing that make me think that why cant all of us bring some balance so that the big rich and famous human beings realize that there is no balance and theres is suffereings all around us!

Hopefully one by one will start to share some of their wealth and give directly to this people some good alternative way of surviving by giving them basic training on how to farm with a small piece of land near their huts to start with! or even
work by giving some livestock or something as I believe if there is a will theres always a way do it!

BUN the Malaysian HERO in Games Industry

Im in Dubai now doing some 're branding' project for Study in Malaysia and incharge of Malaysia Pavillion at GETEX autum 2009 at the dubai world trade centre from 27-29 October 2009.(doing same thing at Bahrain and Jordon, back-to-back)

Next to the exhibition hall was dubai world game expo.

When i walk in I was so supprise to see the exhibitors... nothing like what i saw in Malaysia or even korea fairs as they focus too much on selling games, etc and sexy games characters (not that im complaining). The fairs is so much on CONTENT!

But one major booth that make me feel proud (not as malaysian but as human living in developing county) is that there s an IRAN Paviliion and hosted by IRAN NATIONAL FOUNDATION OF COMPUTER GAMES!!!

I mean we talking bout iran here! to compare with Malaysia who started the most proud MSC and where we are now?!

I took the liberty to go to the booth and look for the person behind this sincere initiative to help building this 'future business' in a country such as IRAN for the youth and future leaders. Waited for 30min for him as he went for prayers but its all worth it...

His name is Behrouz Minaei PhD and he is the MD for eGame National Foundation of Iran

He shared with me his vision, story and journey for him to convince the Government togethr with his team and made it happen. When i ask him what drives him to do all this, and to my supprise he says " i remember few years ago i attended a talk by yr previous PM, Mahathir Mohamad and in his speech he says 'if you have the will, you can do it...Malaysia Boleh! and since then i told my self that i 'boleh' (i can) and IRAN boleh... the rest is history my brother", he explained while still looking whether am i a reporter from Malaysia or not!

I congratulate him and his team again for a job well done!

A good friend and a bro of mine is into this games business for more than 15 yrs, same time as me when i started my conference business. But this guy is the PIONEER in the games industry in Malaysia... and his name is BUN (real name too boring:))

BUN is a nice humble yet firm chap!

BUN have been thru a tough journey in his life to make 'them' understand how current and important the games industry to the country...

I called him and straight told him bout my 'discovery' and told him that when i get back to Malaysia in 2 weeks time... i will do my very best to help him on his quest to develop the games industry in malaysia so that Malaysia can be the hub for the asian countries and soon a leader in games development industry! Insyaallah!

BUN lets do this and form THE MALAYSIAN FOUNDATION OF COMPUTER GAMES and make Malaysia as one of the world leader in computer games industry!

Sad Story, Good Story and 'The Awakening' Stories

It has been a long time since i last blog...

Other than me being busy with work, etc... lots of things been hapening for this past 2 months...

Sad Story:

My father in law has been hospitalised since May in 4 dif hopitals. Please read my
past blog for details... he passed away on the after being 2 months in a koma. He did open his eyes and trying to talk on his last days...

He passed away calmly and without no more sufferings ... he is in a better place now and will be take care by the Creator.

He is a wonderful man with the most pure heart!

My prayers for him forever...

Good Story:

My business is picking up but concentrating internationally

I guess the CREATOR has appoint my father in-law to be my family guardian angel

The 'Awakening' Stories:

Story 1:

My coz bro was 'kidnapped' last few weeks ago!

Cut long story short he was trying to help a gal chased by 3 man with parangs and got beaten up and kidnapped and dunno what else happen.... the mom received a very shocking and scary sms at the later day... our whole big family was just stunned with the incident...

With all the prayers he was 'sent' back and warned...

I really hope it ends there!

Story 2:

A friend was chased by 4 parang men in kelana jaya recently...thank god she manage to scream and woke the neighbours that lead to the men ran back to their car...

Story 3:

I was driving nearby the KL Sentral and suddenly a car infront of me bang a 'kapchai' (standard cheap bike) and then 4 guys came out from the car and beat the hell out of the motorist...

there are so many stories just this 2 months but there are just too many of them...

Malaysia is becoming doom?! (tun dm also mentioned in his blog last month)

Not enought with economy crisis ... the criminal cases also have increased!

Some how the 'mood' of merdeka was not felt this year...

Why?

Well i guess lots of things been hapening in Malaysia and around the world...

Humans rather think about 'surviving' the world economic crisis and also other domestic issues...

When a Nation celebrates its independence day does the government or the citizen of that particular Nation are all independent.... are they all Okay? i mean do they all got money? to they got money problem till they cant buy any food to eat? do they all have shelter? all taken care off?

Well the answer to this question is simple... "NOT ALL...."

The real question is "WHO CARES?"

Who should care for them?

Any ways... this is what wikipedia :) got to say about Merdeka...

"Merdeka is a word in the Malay language meaning independence. It is derived from a Sanskrit word used to designate former Portuguese and Dutch slaves from India in the East Indies, whence the Malay meaning of "free(dom)" is derived. The term was significant during the anticolonialist and pro-independence movements of the colonies of Malaya, Singapore and Indonesia, in the history of Malaysia, the history of Singapore and in the history of Indonesia. It became a battle-cry for those demanding independence from the colonial administrations of the United Kingdom and Netherlands."

Hari Merdeka (Independence Day) is a national day of Malaysia commemorating the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule, celebrated on August 31. In a wider context, it is to celebrate the formation of Malaysia.

Malaya Independence
The effort for independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, who led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka, or independence along with the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock and fifth President of Malaysian Indian Congress Tun V.T. Sambanthan. Once it became increasingly clear that the Communist threat posed during the Malayan Emergency was petering out, agreement was reached on February 8, 1956, for Malaya to gain independence from the British Empire. However, for a number of logistical and administrative reasons, it was decided that the official proclamation of independence would only be made the next year, on August 31, 1957, at Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium), in Kuala Lumpur.

The formation of Malaysia
The Federation of Malaysia, comprising the States of Malaya, North Borneo (later renamed Sabah), Sarawak and Singapore was to be officially declared on the date August 31, 1963, on the 6th anniversary of Malayan independence. However, it was postponed to September 16, 1963, mainly due to Indonesian and the Philippines' opposition to the formation of Malaysia. Nevertheless, North Borneo and Singapore declared sovereignty on August 31, 1963. Indonesian opposition later escalated to a military conflict. Indonesia considered Malaysia as a new form of colonization on the provinces of Sarawak and Sabah in the island of Borneo (bordering Kalimantan, Indonesia), which they laid claim on.[citation needed] To assure Indonesia that Malaysia was not a form of neo-colonialism, a referendum, organized by the United Nations, and the Cobbold Commission, led by Lord Cobbold, were formed to determine whether the people of Sabah and Sarawak wished to join Malaysia. Their eventual findings which indicated substantial support for Malaysia among the peoples of Sabah and Sarawak, cleared the way for the final proclamation of Malaysia.

Do you know that when Malaya celebrated its first Independence Day, new hotels were built everywhere in Kuala Lumpur to accommodate the huge foreign delegation invited by the Government of the Federation of Malaya to witness the historical day.

Upon arriving at the Sungei Besi Airport, the guests of honour were welcomed by the British High Commissioner in Malaya, Sir Donald Charles MacGillivray and Lady MacGillivray, the First Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaya, Tuanku Abdul Rahman accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri Agong and the first Prime Minister of Malaya, Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The formation of the Federation of Malaysia was then announced on September 16, 1963 as Malaysia Day. The Independence Day celebration is still held on August 31, the original independence date of Malaya. However, this has caused some minor discontent among East Malaysians in particular since it has been argued that celebrating the national day on August 31 is too Malaya-centric.

"In the context of Singapore, Merdeka usually refers to the gaining of self-rule and self-government from the United Kingdom in the 1950s, as imperialism in Asia slowly declined. It usually does not refer to Singapore's independence from Malaysia in 1965, which followed its merger with Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak on 16 September 1963 after having held the 1962 national referendum.

The Constitution of Singapore had been amended in 1953 following recommendations by the Rendel Commission, creating a 51 seat Legislative Assembly of Singapore to replace the Legislative Council of Singapore. The Legislative Assembly would become the predecessor to the modern Parliament of Singapore. The following Singapore general election of 1955 had members that were elected by the population for the first time become the majority in Singapore's legislature. Previously, only six members of the Legislative Council were elected — the rest were appointed. This however did not satisfy individuals calling for full self-government at least in the matter of domestic affairs.

The call for Merdeka was a growing tension between progressivism and radicalism, cooperation and hostility towards the British. David Saul Marshall of the Labour Front narrowly won the Singapore general election of 1955, but being anticolonialist, tended to be a vocal opponent of the British rule. As such, the British found it hard to work out a compromise. A petition was started in 1956 which collected the signatures of 167,000 — a vast portion of the electorate in that era — in a petition that demanded Merdeka.

During the Merdeka Talks of 1956, the year before Malaya's independence, the British agreed to grant Singapore self-government over domestic issues, while the British retained control of finance and the military. This seemed to satisfy Marshall initially, but the negotiation later broke down when the British refused to turn over internal security to the local government. The British felt that Marshall was not doing enough to counter the threats of the communist insurgency and the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) which had sparked the Malayan Emergency. The march towards independence was stalled and Marshall resigned in 1956 making good on his earlier pledge that he would step down in the case of failure.

Another Labour Front leader Lim Yew Hock took over as Singapore Chief Minister and continued the effort to push for independence. Lim then undertook harsh measures against the communists demonstrating that his administration was willing to take a tough stance to safeguard internal security. In the Chinese middle schools riots of 1956, some nine hundred people were arrested. Leading a negotiation delegation consisting of several Singapore political leaders from various parties, Lim managed to convince the British to grant Singapore Merdeka by amending and revamping its Constitution in 1958 to allow for a fully-elected legislature which would form an internal government with complete autonomy over domestic affairs. This government was formed following the Singapore general election of 1959, but ironically the Labour Front lost as Lim Yew Hock's harsh techniques had alienated large portions of the electorate."

IN a new twist, part-time model Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarnor, 32, now says she wants her punishment to be carried out quickly and that she will not file an appeal.

Ordered to be whipped six times by the Kuantan Syariah Court, after she had pleaded guilty to consuming beer in public in Cherating, Pahang on July 11, 2007, Bernama reported that Kartika just wanted the ordeal to be over.

"I will accept this punishment, let Allah decide my punishment in the hereafter," said Kartika, who has been residing in Singapore for the last 15 years.

Based on the Syariah Criminal Procedure Enactment 2002, the whipping tool used must be a rotan or small branch that should be not more than 1.22 metres long and not more than 1.25cm thick.

The whipping has to be done using moderate force and the punisher should not raise the hands over the head to avoid injuring the skin. The appointed punisher must be a fair and mature person, During the punishment, the offender must be dressed according to Syariah law.

Male offenders will be whipped while standing whereas female offenders will be in a sitting position when whipping commences.

Whipping would not be done on pregnant offenders and would only be done two months after delivery. It must not hit the face, head, stomach, breast or private parts - only the buttocks.

The offender's health should be checked by government health officers who should also be present during whipping.

The whipping must be done at locations determined by the court or the State government. The whipping punishment is more commonly conducted at the Penor jail in Kuantan, Pahang as the officers there are trained to conduct them.

Earlier, women leaders such as Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Titiwangsa Member of Parliament Dr Lo'Lo Datuk Mohd Ghazali had expressed concern over the harsh punishment in relation to the offence.

Last saturday i went into d' JUNGLE for the first time!

A city sleeeeeekkker like myself no NUTS bout the jungle what more driving into the mud, climbing hillslop and crossing river!

but i did just all that!:)

further more i drove my SORENTO with normal ONROAD tyres!

This crazy idea going into the Jungle is to understand the whole 4x4 thingy and to support my 4X4 team....

YUP ... i set up another division to explore the 4X4 Industry... I 'reactivate' my 1st company that i set up in 1994 for this project... "X4" is now a division of Power Mind Consultancy Sdn Bhd and my partner and CEO of the Company is Jeff Zaiham (i will 'blog' bout him soon enough)!

x4 first task was organising a trip for me and a few of my friends to evaluate x4's "X4 Weekend Xcape: Xplore Ulu Slim" program...

Anyway...

....back to my 'adventure'...

We assemble at KL Sentral last saturday at 8am... (Juhaidi and Syed ofcoz were there early...ehhem... on time but i was late! )

We makan first then 'rolling' @ approx 8.45am...

Three 4WD... Jeff the Commander is driving the JeeP ; me they call me LINCAT (a hybrid of lintah and pacat) driving a SorentO and Zali driving a Monster JeeP (pic)! The 'cargo' : Syed , Juhaidi, Richard, Fizrul (my younger brother) and Rina (Zali's fiancee)

We convoy to ulu slim using the Plus highway....

There was a Ferarri Team convoy too at the highway..zzooming away...think bout atleast 13 ferraris... dont think they re going to the Jungle..Duh!

We took the Behrang exit and stop at the small old town of Kampung Ulu Slim... Its a very small old town... i mean its a 10 small one storey of shops facing each other on a not too long a road... ata the end of that short road stand a small 'restaurant'; owned by Pak Atan..

Pak Atan is a very humble old man with tough fit body... macam komando! He explained the history of the town as the town is more than 100 years old. He also told us that next to his shop is a chinese barber shop that has been operating since the birth of the town and now passed down to the son that is also damn old:) the uniqueness of the barber is that he will take more than an hour to complete a haircut and only charge RM5 to his customers... how he survive the month?.... he cuts his own hair and not at a hair salloon in KLCC!

While waiting for our 'simple lunch' to be served there was a group of 4 more 4WD big pajeros arrive and parked infront of the shop...there were Jeff's friends and they too going at the same camping site...

The first thing they ask was "Siapa punya Sorento tu?" (who's sorento is that) ... the 'guys' tone of voice is almost a tease yet confuse on what the f_ck a sorento doing here and what the H_ll the driver is thinking to drive the sorento up into the jungle! further more with ONLY a normal on road tyres!!! :) ofcoz all fingers pointing at me and Jeff starts to introduce them one by one to me and the 'cargo' too...

After our early lunch (approx 1130pm) we continue our convoy ... we stop at the hot springs nearby and all of us try to 'boiled' eggs by slowly putting the eggs onto the small rocky pool of the hot springs... all enjoyed ourself ofcoz right after syed almost fell into the big 'hot pool' and richard 'half boiled' eggs broke INSIDE his pockets:))

Approx 12pm we went 'IN'!

My heart starts beating fast when jeff radio me and ask me to engage to my 4WD Low gear...

I might say that i am almost ready to get scratches on my car or some shit things to happen:)

The route is getting tougher and rougher by the minute!

its not a light terrain as what Jeff have told me... its actually a medium terrain route where they are muddy and hillslops to climb and also rocky river crossings ahead! I was just focusing on the route and instructions especially when i got stuck at the hill slop! thanks syed,juhaidi and ofcoz Zali and the echo of Jeff on the radio...thnx guys! (fizrul just pissing in his pants n pray to god dont kill him today:)) (i will upload more pics and video soon)

When we almost reach the camo site, we stop at a small Orang Asli settlement and joined y the 'other 4x4 guys' ... After just saying 'hi' to the head of the settlement he all continue convoy to the site that was not far from the settlement...

I got woried when i hear a big strong current of the 2 rivers ahead as we need to cross the river to get at the camp site:p Jeff crossed the river like an expert... well ofcoz..he founded the camp site and been there almost 50 times..grrr... Jeff step out fromn the his Jeep and signalling me to cross over... i was telling Juhaidi, syed and Fizrul... my mechanics will tell me to change everything when i got back to KL...

Slowly i let my car slide into the river and then 'GONG' ... i hit a rock and i keep pressing the power and puff the car lift and crosssed the river... man i felt like i just got my 'akil baligh'! (will upload video soon)

After i crossed the river...one by one of the 4x4 guys crossed and all step down and congratulating me for crossing the river well... very good for a first timer... (kembang hidung aku):)

I was invited to attend a conference last friday and saturday organised by the Ministry of Youth & Sports via Institut Sukan Negara (ISN)

The Conference titled "Konvensyen Industri Sukan Malaysia 2009" or "KISMAS 2009"...

Dunno why the title is in Malay as the whole convention were conducted in English... i guess its the same case of whether Maths & Science to be taught in English or BM :)

anyway..back to the conference...errr...convention

The MAIN reason I attended the convention is bcoz i was quite happy that Malaysia FINALLY realise that Sport is an Industry!

Its like MITI just realised (2 years ago) how important the SMEs to compare with nurturing only the SMIs that is only 2.5% of the companies registered in the Registrar of Companies... SME is 97.5% and growing each day! (b4 that MITI only extended their grants n loans to SMIs and 'a few' SMEs)

After 52 years of independence... Malaysia acknowledged "Sport as an Industry"....

well... its better now than never... Alhamdullillah!

I will be in touch with the Ministry as a 'committee member' (most of the time self appointed) to make sure ....err ... oklah i can use a friendlier word .... to ASSIST on the intention and the acknowledgement of Sport as an Industry is well implemented and no more 'wasting' or so called 'investing' money in events only... especially event that the Rakyat can not participate.... tengok perahu belayar and kereta laju lumba je... bukanya boleh naik jap pun...

Main focus on Sport Industry is to develop and nurtured companies that are now currently manufacturing (or in planning) the sport equipments, products for manufacturing exports...

Ministry must also focus on the Sport Aviation Industry...

As the VP (ehem, ehem) of Malaysian Sport Aviation Federation I will be in contact with the Ministry of Youth & Sports and a few other ministries on the great benefits that Malaysia will achieved by focusing on Sport Aviation

But one thing for sure... for Malaysia to be serious in making Sport as an Industry, the Ministry of Youth & Sports need to set up a task force consist of rep from Ministry of International Trade & Industry; Ministry of Tourism; Ministry of Higher Education; Ministry of Finance; the Prime Minister's Office; Sport Educators, Industry Players (well chosen) and also the Media... then ONLY the world will take u seriously...

Ministries should learn how to work together and have an internal motto...."ONE GOVERNMENT"!

medical gods

about 2 months ago my father in law was admitted into Pantai Medical, a private hospital runs by a group of bizmen from singapore...

after 7 days of no response from the 'experts', finally they diagnosed him and advice us that father had a stone in bladder and need to also undergo a small operation to his prostate...

he became more worse after the operation as he starts to urinate blood non stop... even that the 'experts' or medical god said that he is fine and discharged him and slap us with a RM35k bill!

And when we call the expert or the medical God ... he will shout and yell and was being very rude by telling that he is busy and he have cured the father and dont disturb him anymore or just come as outpatient and we have to pay him more!

father in law could still walk but in a very slow pace and still urinate blood for weeks till we admit him in University Hospital as we were not satisfied with the way the 'experts' treated us in the hospital that runs by bunch of bizmen.

we cant complaint much with the service in UH as we tot we cant do that since its a 'government hospital' ... but what i can say is that... bad bad service and there is no care or sincerity in 'caring' for the sicklings...

on the second thought..why cant we expect a good service... infact becoz its a gov hospital the nation's hospital should be an example and provide the best medical care...

(ofcoz u can provide comments and do that straight to the MoH)

what i learnt is that in gov hospital u got to wait for the medical gods and goddes to come for a 'visit run' and worse there is no specific time when this gods will do it... and we should forget bout daily chores and just wait whole day for this gods to show up while they re running from one sickling to another (by numbers and turns)...

as we not satisfied we transfered him to UH Private Wing and we got better 'treatment' .... where i believe the 'repayment system' (sacrifice) to the gods is some how more lucrative!

we got the 'treatment' but only in terms of service... theres no answer to what my father in law is becoming more sick then ever...

family decided after 2 weeks no answers from the medical gods...the family took him back home...

and got slap with a RM10k bill!

father's health was going from bad to very very bad in just matter of days...and a week later admit him back to hospital..this time its damansara specialist hospital... where we hope the medical gods there will find an answer to his sickness...

just after few days they transfered him to ICU as he have some breathing problem...but frankly its just his phlem clog as he was bed ridden for more than 2 month...

there is one nite when i was having a 'VIP Dinner' oustation... my wife was calling me and crying saying tht the medical god told her that the father would not survive the night! (this was 3.5 weeks ago...he is still breathing now)

i rush back to kl that nite itself and when i reach the hospital early early in morning..maybe around 3am... it was a nothing really...father was stable..he just need further care as the 'gods' and his assistance should just give father extra care to vacum out the phlem and sliver...

but for the medical god to even think of making a statement that father would not survive the nite is just not humane... especially to my wife who love the father so so much and now have gone very thin crying almost every nite for the past 2 months...

father health is just getting worse and finally after 2 weeks in the icu (rm3k a nite) the med gods keep on pastering to do a trekeostomy as it will ease the breathing... but they never told us the hidden cost... ie life support machine that cost 6k per nite and worse not sure how many nites he would be on it...

when we say that we want to transfer father to GH the medical gods again make another stunt by making a statement father wont be long in this world... in a way convincing us to just maintained him in their ICU...

They keep on making excuses that they cant get a bed for father in GH... of coz i cant take the nonsense from them and i start to 'throw' some names that ive make the calls to and i put them in a corner where they have to get the bed or 'else'

knowing the fact that they just thinking bout money i make some 'calls' and arrange for father to be transfered to general hospital and manage to get him a bed at the neuro icu in General Hospital....

Ofcoz i went to GH myself to get this done!

i have to say the service in GH is good especially at the information and enquiry room located next to the emergency area...

Father was brought to GH in an ambulance that we manage to arrange and pay RM300 from the blood sucking hospital

the bill....more than RM50k! and if we to do the trekky and icu for another week bill would come up to RM100k or more!

my wife was experiencing her 1st being in an ambulance by herself and worry that the father will get panic as he is at that stage in a semi koma...

Once arrive father was ruch to neuro icu and we was stable... alhamdulillah... syukur!

Now he is there for almost 2 weeks.. atleast in GH the medical god that attending to father is a good sincere doctor and she is only looking for answers and done test after test...sincerely!

and the trekky was done and no such life support machine was required after the surgery like what the d specialist claims!

last saturday father received a ministrial visit... i guess the whole VIP staff of GH were there and ofcoz we received more 'information' on what they are doing and what they will do to find answers and solutions for father...

how we wish father was not on semi koma and say tq to him

today he is still stable and we re doing what ever things possible for his recovery...

my wife even starts her emails to prof in california asking and seeking for answers as she thinks that she could help the medical doctors in GH to open their minds to other practitioners oppinions...

lets all pray for father's health and hope for a fast recovery...

and i have a long report to submit to the minister of health...

will keep u updated on fathers condition n with regards to my report... i guess it might be confidential...

it might be 'NOT' ...

Good Service and Neon Lights

i was in Ipoh last week and it have been almost 10 years since ive stayed in Casuarina Hotel Ipoh...

Me, jeff and zali drove and only manage to leave kl at 1130pm... when we reach Ipoh exit we just follow the 'guy instict' and follow the force and jeff refuse to ask for direction ... ego is one thing but his inlaw is from Perak:) so more pressure for himself to find the hotel...

We went arround and arround and use all the 'fimiliar' road to Jeff and ofcoz i also try to use my force in trying to get to the hotel...

Finally we spot 2 patrol car parked infront of the 7 11 (buying top up and power root i guess)

I wind down my window ask politely for directions... one of the officer is so so nice to request help from the other patrol car (i guess they have bought their top ups and power root) to escort us to the hotel... mind u we were just driving a waja...and not X5 or some luxury car...

The patrol car escorted us all the way to the hotel with the beacon light on....how i wish with sirens but i guess its not appropriate ... its 230am...

when they showed us the hotel we were all hitting our head as we have passed this building before ... in fact it was the first road tht we took (i guess Jeff force serve him good...but not his eyes)... what makes us passed the building was bcoz the hotel signboard...neon lights was not on..or maybe there was no neon lights.... and 10 years ago there is no UMNO building next to casuarina hotel ....it was an empty land (thats why i tot its just another office building next to UMNO's (maybe PKR Perak HQ:))

We checked in at 315am and the next morning we cant stop talking bout the good service of the police force in Ipoh.... syabas!

and comes to casuarina not having its neon lights...shame on U

There is no specific answer to all these questions.....

Why im thinking of death?

Why not!

I always notice that humans do not how to face death! nor near death experience...

Are we all affraid to die?

I guess U might be affraid of not knowing where U heading to...

Or do we know where we heading to and then affraid of not knowing how good or bad the situation might be...

Few years ago i almost face death...

I was involved in a 10 car accident in the north south highway... my car spinned and my tyre rim was screecthing on the tar road for miles...

so many things came to my mind in a mili seconds... loves ones, life, biz,etc all at the same time... i just went blank during the whole accident till my car stop itself at the side of the road! 3 cars infront of me and 6 cars behind me coz a massive traffic jam for hours...

But did i really go blank?!... i cant forget one thing....

i was scared!

AS when my mind ponder on somany things at the same time in that mili seconds... i do realise that i have not done enough for the life that GOD have given me...

Whenever u experience a near death situation i guess thats the only time u start to ponder... y are u here?

and i do wonder... why the old ones... affraid of dying... of death...

what else do they have not done>?

not enough?

worried of the loves ones that he or she will leave behind?

or is it just simply affraid of not knowing whats next?

Hell? or heaven?

whos to judge.... GOD?

well i believe so as GOD creates....

whatever the creator creates the creator can destroy!

then again...why create?

the intention to create humans have always been a big question to those who r searching for the 'answers'...

are we not suppose to ask? then why create the ability of humans anxiety to know...

and for those who believe in GOD...

why the worry of not knowing whats next...

will GOD really punish those who do BAD in their life... how BAD is the punishments... how long is the punishments....

what about diferences of belief system....

how one choose ones true belief?

'true' belief....

then again who are we to judge...

so whats the conclusion for all these questions....

there are none!

one have the right to think what to belief...

BUT one also need to think

WHO/WHAT starts the ORIGIN of life

and WHY

close your eyes and pause yr life for a while and think

Malaysia Sport Aviation Federation (MSAF)

Last Saturday was the 6th AGM for the Malaysian Sport Aviation Federation (MSAF)...

MSAF was formed under the office of MIGHT(PMs department) and DCA to monitor the sport aviation initiatives in the country.

Much have done to promote the 'new' sport but there are much to do

Last saturday, i was elected to be the Vice President (Sport & Business Development)

My main job is to promote the sport aviation and also to keep the MSAF running by getting some funds an grants from the government.

One thing i did even before being the VP is by organising the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 with my friend, Din of AKA balloon..

Organising that event is just a teaser to Malaysia as we will organise more sport aviation carnival very soon...

Singapore CusToms

So many hapenings since i last blogging and i will try to re cap the most important things... (one of the reason why i did not update my blog is i still want a 'few' good gentlemen to read my Niat part 2 story)...

Anyway....

last week i was driving down to Singapore with TA (a good buddy of mine) and his buddy from indonesia... we were driving from melaka. The Remote Control Helicopters (aeromodelling) team participating in the Singapore Aeromodelling Competition 2009 in Tuas, Singapore ...

We were using the second link to go into Singapore...

The plan was just go into Singapore to see the finals and the closing ceremony and head back to melaka as some one organises the melaka air Carnival (not so hapening event anyway)

Not knowing SG Customs Law... we were just chatting away thru the customs without checking my car if we got some ciggy box un opened or something... just my bad luck my car was inspected by one bloody nerd custom officer whom i guess desperate to get a job promotion or achieve high marks in his KPIs... he inspected my car in and out and found 2 ciggerete box not open ...frankly im not a smoker...onely smoke when im driving long distance/tired... he ask me to park my car and follow him to the custom office...

He even check my engine if im trying to smuggle more ciggy in my engine... tru dumbo!

well anyway to cut the 2 hour arguement short we end up being charge SGD 400 for the 2 boxes...

the thing is..even some singaporeans were cought and fined.... i have sent a letter anyway to the sg customs and also to straits times as this stupid law is not fair and for personal consumption i dont thing u should be fined SGD 400 for 2 box of ciggy...

Worst there was this chinese lady was cought bringing 'malaysian soil and plants'.. the customs took away her plants and fined her too... ciggy boxes i can understand... cant bring in plants from malaysia???

Are malaysian plants/soil too dirty for Singaporeans Government???

This i believe is too much!

A small island that once belongst to Malaya now thinks that their land is more pure than us.... too much...just too much...

Anyway by the time we get to the competition site...all has ended... but good news..Malaysia team won 1st and 3rd prize (all effort without malaysian gov funding)

anyways....with regards to sg customs interesting law... Shall i do something bout this...you bet!

NIAT: part two

Few weeks ago I wrote about humans' intentions (NIAT)

This is one thing that I just do not understand about human and its characteristics

Why if one human wants to do something the one would not put [his] best effort to do it in upmost perfection...but again ... who is judging???

This time i would like to point out (target: with my sniper riffle) on the welfare department in Malaysia... (Ministry of Women, family..mouthfull) (I would like to give a new name to them "Ministry of Betterliving & Caring" if they really want to change to a result oriented ministry)

We all assume or some dont even bother to care that the welfare department always take care of those unfortunate human beings... well guys U are WRONG! They look caring but no results and only those in the 'market' knows about it...unspoken truth!

Recently there was a case bout the welfare department want to take off some funds from the disabled if there have astro/tv at their homes... nonsense!

(Matters still unsettle and 'they' are suffering still!)

Now I heard that there are some 'homes' either for under privilege kids or orphans DO NOT receive the proper aids from the welfare department.

NOW…. Why is that???

Oh Yeah for your information… to makes matters worse... In the ‘market’ the non-muslim homes get less or none from the welfare to compare to those muslim homes!!!

I hate when humans forget their NIAT in life

Must we differentiate between one muslim kid to a non-muslim kid if your NIAT is to help a Kid!

I will be very very angry when things like this happen and guys .... I will do my best to change this mindset in the relevant ministries or government agencies...

I will do something bout this very soon!

Sharat turns 2 years old:)

Its not this blog turns 2 but my son, Sheikh Sharat Shah :)

190509 he turns 2 years old...

Me, wife, sharat and his bibiq (housemaid) spend sharat's birthday at his 2nd family home for the first time and we had a simple pizza hut dinner and a tiramisu birthday cake for sharat... first time i eat a 'Barney' tiramisu cake:)

Me n wife start sending him to the family friends house since he was 2 months old...

There are beautiful and warm punjaby family...

On weekdays we call him Sharat Singh :)

Sharat is a 'performer' in the making...

He performs!

When he join the entertainment industry..he will be Salman Khan!

When he join the Bizness Empire (that he will build)... he will be Donald Trump!

When he join the politics (in his 30s)... he will Obama

With regards to his 2 year old birthday batch...well frankly we do not wanna do it anymore... me and wife decided to spend our birthdays by going to orphanage homes and have the party there... this saturday will be our first birthday party with the orphans ... cant wait for it!

About Sharat and his future...

Basically he is a happy kid and will have a happy life as he will respect all humans and all religion and bring peace to this world!

Niat means intention...

Humans some how do not know the meaning...

This is the meaning (reference; wikipedia):

Intention:

An agent's intention in performing an action is his or her specific purpose in doing so, the end or goal that is aimed at, or intended to accomplish. Whether an action is successful or unsuccessful depends at least on whether the intended result was brought about. Other consequences of someone's acting are called unintentional. Intentional behavior can also be just thoughtful and deliberate goal-directedness.

In Philosophy;
G.E.M Anscombe made the topic of intentional action a major topic of analytic philosophy with her 1957 work Intention. She argued that intentional action was coextensive with action of which one could ask "why were you doing that?" In the sense that Anscombe meant her question, it was "refused application" by the answer "I was not aware that I was doing that," but not by "for no reason at all." Therefore Anscombe held that it was possible to act intentionally for no reason at all. She also claimed that intentional action was subject to "knowledge without observation."

In the philosophy of mind, intentionality is the property of being "about" something else, or to have some subject matter, in a certain way. Many states of mind, such as thinking about the pyramids, are characteristically about things (in this case the pyramids). Creating Heroes : Sheikh Faleigh

There are a thousand reasons why UMNO is losing popularity among the Malays (and everyone else). Many of the reasons can be read here in the many angry comments and replies. They can also be heard in other Blogs, at the Kopitiam and the mamak shops.

And yet there is one more reason too. The UMNO system of largesse and patronage does not allow the creation of independent heroes among the Malays. If you do not have the party’s patronage (meaning if you are not a supporter) then it is most likely that the powers that be may not pay much attention to you. They can also seriously obstruct your forward motion.

Some academic type people were discussing this sometime back and came to agree on this point too. Even in sports, in the badminton associations, football associations and others everything is politicized.

Recall the young man from Penang who swam across the English Channel? He was an UMNO Youth protégé. They took him under their wing. Later he became a Datuk. (Anyone knows where he is now?)

The taxi permits are politicized (who cares about the poor cab drivers or the suffering public). The award of hawkers licenses are politicized. Everything is controlled.

If you don’t stop to kowtow your local party boss, then you are out of the largesse loop. This has become the norm. And this is greatly resented by many many people, especially the young Malays. Hence they are voting for other parties.

The party has to learn (by yesterday) to go out and genuinely help people without expecting anything in return, without checking if someone is a prty supporter or not. It is called selfless public service. Nak sebut altruism pun boleh.

Despite the stranglehold on just about everything in the country, there are numerous people from among the Malays who are able to break through barriers and emerge on top minus the heavy political connections or largesse. One such person is a young man (33 years old) called Sheikh Faleigh. He is listed in the local records as the youngest entrepreneur etc.

Sheikh is into major event management. He is an incorrigible entrepreneur. Tenacious when he latches on to something. I met him many years ago when he was in his twenties and already a successful entrepreneur. It was during a dinner meeting with the then Datuk Bandar of Kuala Lumpur (cant recall which one but also got ‘booted’ out of office).

I remember I had forgotten to bring a pen. Sheikh had a pen and was doodling on a small note book (or so I thought). I asked to borrow his pen to take some notes of the Datuk Bandar’s speech. The boy became visibly uneasy like he really needed to have the pen back. So I gave it back to him and he seemed happy ‘doodling’ again. Later he told me that he needs to constantly write things down, ideas that popped into his head about how to make money, what venture to explore and so on. (In brief never ask to pinjam his pen).

As with all entrepreneurship not all ventures are financially successful. But what marks the usahawan is their tenacity to never let go. They always bounce back, trying this or that, until one day they hit the mother lode.

Not too long ago I introduced Sheikh to a very savvy Chinese tycoon. It was just a short introduction but before I knew it, the young man had convinced the tycoon into doing something with him.

Most recently Sheikh has organized the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta on March 28 and 29. The first of its kind in Malaysia, more than 19 hot air balloon enthusiasts from around the world came to participate. The event turned out to be a resounding success. Over 150,000 people came to the Fiesta including the Yang Di Pertuan Agong’s four young children.

Perhaps for the first time, Putrajaya was filled to the brim with people. The streets became parking lots for the over 150,000 people who came. (I am also glad the event was not held in Kuala Lumpur, which would have caused massive traffic jams and disrupted business for the whole weekend.)

What is significant was that Sheikh organized the whole event without any Government help or assistance from the Ministry of Tourism. He is also not a member of UMNO. Actually he is quite sore at the Ministry of Tourism who did not lend a hand although the Fiesta attracted 150,000 people and helped put Malaysia on the world hot air ballooning map (which apparently has its own crazy followers – just like the F1).

A Google search for the 1st Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 registers over 34,000 sites while Yahoo generates 25,600 references. This is tremendous exposure for Malaysia.

Sheikh says there are major Hot Air Balloon Fiestas in Thailand and Phillippines which have been going on for over 10 years. In Thailand the King is the Royal Patron and hosts the event free for the public.

Sheikh wants to make the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta here an annual affair too. Knowing Sheikh he will possibly get Royal Patronage too.

I would like to advise him to "Go Forth" beyond "Malaysian Shores" to "Establish" himself in "their Register Book" as an "International Hot Air Balloon Enthusiast Committee member" on his OWN steam without any "Malaysian Govt & Corporate" Sponsorship....

It is not in the "Money or Sponsorship" rather the "Passion, Honesty & Sincerity" that will attract the "Money".

Money & Accolades will come from ALL sides if one has "Achieved through Passion, the Honourable way".

i am going Australia to challenge myself doing some biz there.... i find pple there are less judgemental... doing few things...opening up Kelantan Delights restaurant and bistro with a close friend and also to fly Malaysia hot air balloon in the australia circuit promoting the country... Malaysia need to be more creative in promoting our existence and NOT only relying on tourism offices worldwide... One of my ideas to the gov is to but a hot air balloon with malaysia pictures on it and one more a special shape balloon...a shape of our Twin Towers and me n my team will participate in the hot air balloon fiesta in europe,americas n etc... most creative ways to promote the country....and we do not need rm 300mil budget from gov to do this mass creative promotion... thnx guys for the encouraging comments and brother thnx for the cool story on heroes:)

Yesterday i had a 2 hour meeting with the ministry of tourism with regards to me being a 'pain' of wanting my voice heard...

(for those who not been following my blog im refering to the ministry giving me notice in writing 2 days b4 the balloon fiesta saying...good luck by theway no money for u!)

The meeting is also join by a representative from PEMUDAH and PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU respectively. They were there as an observer to my 'yapping':)

I must say that I was very happy with the way the meeting was chaired and conducted... ofcoz there are tense moments as all i guess think that im a lunatic goon.. BUT it all went very smooth...infact, silky smooth... intead of being a mad lunatic i went there being a yoga master or frankly i was master jedi YODA:)

Both parties, my self representing the organising committee of the fiesta and the tourism ministry have our own points to address... and all noted... hope they give me a copy of their version of the minutes of meeting tho...

During the long meeting.... i remember there was one question thrown at me if i would want to stop and stand down for the sake of having a continuous relationship with the ministry and 'its' people (since i'm in the MICE industry for 15 years now)..

Actually i was really waiting for a right time for 'them' to know bit about me and what ive done in 15 years other than just running companies..

I told them that it was never in my intention to be a pain to anyone or to create enemies... i do not have enemies and ill be a fool to create enemies with the government ... BUT if there are issues that need to bring attention .. I WILL BE THERE DEMANDING FOR AN ANSWER AND A SOLUTION!

I was sharing with them my journeys in making a clear and fair path for entrepreneur
that have merits do their biz in Malaysia:

1. conference was not claimable under the HRDF scheme till 1.5 years ago... now conference can be claimable as this is important if the nation serious of building a knowledge society.

NO ENEMY.. in fact the ministry n the industry gained a lot after the 'change'

2. miti under midf/smidec/matrade focusing their grants to SMI (factory owners) when they should focus nuturing the mass 90% industry in Malaysia..the SMEs... now grants and soft loans are available within miti...further more u can claim 80% of the conference fee for u to enhance yr knowledge n skills

NO ENEMY... same... both gained!

3. contributed to the rights for the physically challenge community(i hate label them as OKU)

NO ENEMY... i hope:)... no result yet.. very complicated...still fighting!

4. some CSR projects here n there...

so that was my answer to them on me just want to bring up some issues that was not just!

At the end of the meeting... all wish me the best and all smile and of coz i gave all a hot air balloon cap!

Today gonna be a very interesting day...

After lunch i will have a meeting that ive been waiting for (well one of it..still on standby to meet the PM)... a confrontation with tourism ministry on the issue of justice!

I will be accompanied by a representative from PEMUDAH and hopefully from one more representative from the PMs Department....

Lets all pray that justice will have its glory again!

i just saw on you tube the 'hooligans' in the Perak State Assembly Hall...

plus so many videos on how Malaysia Parliament being conducted...

I thought that the 'Hall' and the 'people' that represent a bunch of other people should worry about the people and not bout themselves or their boss or their political career or etc...

When i saw the 'hooligans' attacking another 'hooligans' i thought of calling WWF and asking them to open a ring in PERAK...and one in Jalan Duta!

On other note...

The guys that put things on you tube do not have any brains... i mean there's a limit on how much you can tell the world bout Malaysia Truly Asia!

Cameraman out there... pls la..go to National Park, Mount Kinabalu or even National Zoo and take lah all the picture/video u want and put it up on you tube...not go to stupid defunct assembly hall and take the endangered species!

anyway... this is why i never join any political party in Malaysia

Tourism Ministry 'obviously' will defend their grounds with whatever they have...

i just an email from the tourism ministry stating the same old bloody thing that no budget and all... this is a great evidence that officers of the government do not want to understand one REAL issue..but they are so use to the standard response..its like they are a computer or someking "tq for this and that however..this and that"

GOD pls...pls.. help!

I might say that i'm very impressed by PEMUDAH

MUDAH means 'easy'

PE _ MUDAH means 'easy man' like 'superman' or 'batman'

Just that the super hero powers are nothing like the Justice League or Xmen or even HEROES... PEMUDAH super hero powers is that he ease yr way to solve your problems or issues ... its like yr guardian angel...

If you have ANY problem...either in business, community issues, service issue related to government ministries or agencies...PEMUDAH will fly to you for the rescue...

i was so happy after 2 days ...they sent me an email reply...

not just a reply saying that they "have received yr comment and we will get back to you soon!" like most ministries/etc

this is an email by them forwarding me the correspondences email they have sent to the relevant ministries and cc it to PMs office...

i must say....

well... i hope the Villains are not stronger than the super hero PEMUDAH..

PEMUDAH Background

The idea for a high-powered taskforce to address bureaucracy in business-government dealings was first introduced in the Prime Minister’s annual speech to the Civil Service on 11th January 2007. It was recognised that a concerted cross-ministerial initiative was needed to effect greater improvement in the way government regulates businesses. To be truly relevant, it was also essential to have active participation by the private sector.

On 7th February 2007, the Special Taskforce to Facilitate Business or PEMUDAH (taken from the taskforce’s Malay name ‘Pasukan Petugas Khas Pemudahcara Perniagaan’) was established. Terms of Reference:

To coordinate programs across public sector agencies towards enhancing Malaysia's competitiveness;

Last week i was shock with the nonsense statement of welfare dept do not give aid no more to those physically challenged if they have TV or AStro...

Same day the news was out ... few NGOs and 'individuals' went to Shahrizat's office and demand explanations... it came out in the news the next day.. and few days after that...

BUT...

the reality is still one man's denial...

Malaysia need to CARE bout them....

Yesterday i was shocked when i read NST front page...

If u are physically challenged (what malaysian gov/media like to call OKU... i hate ppl label ppl) and u got a TV or Astro the gov agencies /wellfare will not give U anymore aids!!!

This is obviously NONSENSE!!!

Here u have the 'NEW' Government line up saying bout being caring this and that and next thing u know "oopps we only care for those whom are not physically challenged"

i really hope the gov will look into this issue serriously

Today's NST paper shows that Shahrizat, head a ministry that suppose to handle 'them'
received a visit yesterday and 'promise' will resolved this un necessary stress issue...

I couldnt focus on my meetings yesterday as I was in penang as i keep on thinking WHY ...WHY this is overlooked by the government!!!

Must we be wheelchair bound for us to know what it is like to face the daily challenges of what 'they' are facing????

I am fortunate to be a 'friend/advisor' to some disabled associations in the country and i will always do my best to make those relevant understand how serrious the country not giving enoung CARE to 'them'

Kejayaan Luar Biasa ‘1st Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 (PIHABF 2009)’ 19 – 22 Mac 2009

Merujuk kepada perkara diatas, saya bagi pihak penganjur ingin memohon perhatian Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri mengenai acara PIHABF 2009 yang berlangsung pada 19-22 Mac 2009 berhampiran dengan monumen alaf baru di Presint 2, Putrajaya.

Acara ini telah dianjurkan dengan sempurna sekali dan juga dapat kunjungan lebih daripada 100,000 orang ditapak acara ini termasuk pelancong asing yang begitu terpegun dan bangga Malaysia boleh menganjurkan acara taraf antarabangsa.

Kehadiran Putera Puteri Di Raja

DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di Pertuan Agong juga berkenan dengan fiesta ini dan telah memberi kepercayaan kepada kami dengan menghantar ke empat-empat anakanda baginda ke fiesta ini dan kami telah membawa mereka terbang menaiki ‘hot air balloon’ kami. Kesemua putera dan puteri Baginda merasa sangat gembira pertama kali menaiki ‘hot air balloon’. Putera Baginda juga sempat berinteraksi dengan pengunjung-pengunjung fiesta daripada semua kalangan rakyat Malaysia termasuk dalam beberapa acara sampingan seperti pertandingan ‘paper plane’, ‘remote control planes / helicopters’, waterball di tasik monument alaf baru dan pelbagai acara sampingan yang lain.

Sokongan Kerajaan

Untuk menjayakan Fiesta ini, saya telah berurusan dengan Kementerian Pelancongan selama lebih setahun untuk mendapatkan sokongan Kerajaan. Malangnya, untuk perhatian Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri, pihak Kementerian Pelancongan pada saat terakhir, ia itu dua hari sahaja sebelum Fiesta ini, Kementerian Pelancongan telah memberi surat ‘tidak lulus’ kepada permohonan kami untuk mendapat bantuan sebanyak RM4 juta untuk menjayakan Fiesta ini kerana peruntukan Kementerian tidak cukup. ‘Chronology event’ disertakan (Lampiran 1).

Dengan serendah hatinya saya ingin sebutkan sekali lagi bahawa Fiesta ini telah menarik lebih daripada 100,000 ribu pengunjung, yang jauh melebihi Monsoon Cup dan juga acara F1 di Sepang. Media asing seperti China Daily, Reuters, etc telah member liputan yang menyeluruh untuk Fiesta ini. Google juga merakamkan lebih daripada 50,000 websites berkenaan Fiesta ini.

Sokongan Daripada Pejabat DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di Pertuan Agong

Kejayaan luar biasa ini telah merangsang kami untuk menjadikan Fiesta ini acara tahunan. Untuk pengetahuan YAB Dato Seri, feedback daripada Pejabat DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di Pertuan Agong sangat merangsangkan dan besar kemungkinan DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di Pertuan Agong akan berkenan menjadi “Royal Patron’ untuk Fiesta ini yang akan datang.

Mempromosikan Malaysia dan Keusahawanan Bumiputera

Hasrat kami menganjurkan fiesta ini adalah untuk Rakyat Malaysia, untuk mempromosikan Malaysia, untuk memperkenalkan yang Malaysia juga ada anak Melayu yang juga ‘hot air balloon pilot’ dan juga untuk menunjukkan kebolehan anak Melayu Malaysia menganjurkan acara bertaraf antarabangsa ini.

Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri, Fiesta ini telah Berjaya diluar jangkaan semua.

Walaupun demikian kami ingin merayu kepada Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri dan Kerajaan Malaysia untuk membantu mengurangkan beban kewangan kami yang teramat sangat. Kami telahpun menampung pelbagai kos penganjuran dan juga pelbagai kos lain seperti tiket penerbangan balloonist, hotel, kargo, promosi dan lain-lain yang telah mencapai jutaan ringgit.

Kami faham masalah kegawatan ekonomi Negara dan juga dunia tetapi kami bukan sekadar memberi kertas kerja bahkan telahpun terbukti berjaya menganjurkan acara ini dengan sempurna sekali dan juga dapat kunjungan ratus ribuan orang.

Kami percaya Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri setuju dengan kami bahawa fiesta Rakyat yang sebegini unik patut dibantu oleh Kerajaan Malaysia.

The journey for the past months have been like swimming in the middle of the ocean with no chance of survival... at least not stranded!

As you know... ive been working hard in making the balloon fiesta (www.myballoonfiesta.com) a reality!

ofcoz.. it became a reality...
just google putrajaya hot air balloon fiesta... there'll be like more than 30 thousand page on it....

another crazy idea become reality by SF...

of coz i could not have done it if not bcoz of the greenlite from my balloon partner, Din...

Putrajaya have never seen a crowd like that before....like what shev das stated in his Malay Mail article "a sleepy administrative town turn alive...

one of the big battle was getting the support from the government ...name ministry of tourism...

i believe that such a unique event like the balloon fiesta should be given support from the government as to compare with the norm events tht the Rakyat have seen again and again...and frankly with the amount of money gov spent on those events...my god.... might as well we build the second bridge to singapore...might as well the money given to the poor..to the people in GAZA!

well anyway..thts me n my wishfull thinking talking...

the fact that the gov not supporting this fiesta was a big SHOCK to me ......worst the 'NO' letter from tourism was given 2 days prior to the fiesta... talking bout 'adil'...

ofcoz an apeal letter was sent immidiately... and im too busy making sure the fiesta went smoothly and only able to strategise my next action after the fiesta...

but ofcoz...show got to go on.... so many ppl are shock and amaze that the balloon fiesta went as scheduled and it went extremely well...

we received more than 100 thousand crowd during the fiesta...

families from all walks of life, race, religion..even tourist were so amaze n happy being there...

being sad tht the gov didnt help us....

Sudddenly my secretary called me up and relay me a message.... call the king's secretary now!

i was like....ya rite... but its true...

The king acknowledged the fiesta.... he wants to send his kids...

I told the secretary tht she have made me so happy n we will welcome them...

The royal kids arrived on Saturday morning... just in time for our morning flight.... all 4+ 1 friend of them flew... they even take a ride back to the balloon site at the back of the 4 wheeler...they were so happy n stayed for another 3 hours... witnessing the other side events that we have... remote control planes, kids competitions and also waterball,

saturday evening..the evening flight around 5.30pm on 21 march was crazy.... u cant even see the ground.... huge packed crowds surround the gatted area of the balloon launch site (safety reasons)..

at 630pm the crowd breakdown the gate (that was not properly hooked by the authority) and sworm inside the restricted area... as i cant blame them as they were eager to see the balloons from near n if can 'touch' n take photos near it...

Safety comes first.... knowing the fact that the possibility of a chaos.... i asked the authority to provide a patrol car to the site asap but failed... i called the 4WD team leader, jeff to follow me 'pushing' the crowd out from the area as if anyone of them smoke a ciggy... n when the burner releases it gas... well... nothing good can come out of it...

within 20 min we ve manage to 'push' them out from the restricted zone but ofcoz...i know 2 scenario i will encounter...1. people be angry 2. people wanna 'punch' me for 'pushing them away... as aspected on my scenario planning was rite..as usual... 3 huge men stop our 4wd n wanted to punch me for being 'rude' he says.... he was hysterically mad with us trying to push pple away...as he do not care the danger or frankly ignorant of the danger .... some how a rather...i manage to cool him down as ive told him hundreds of announcements made for public to leave the restricted area..... well anyway... i still have my jaw in place n thank god the site were cleared!

the good point on all of this is that... we ve done a good job organising this untill the crowd was way over to be handled...like metalica concert!

of coz SF war not end here.... i will do my best for justice to be served!

i will follow up on my letters to the ministry at the same time another letter will be sent soon to the new PM....

i hope the new PM listens... n care for the Rakyat

one thing for sure.... next year...we inviting the King to be the Patron.... it will be like a kings gift to the Rakyat

Where's the help coming from?

ALI, A PALESTINIAN communication officer from Gaza sent me some new pictures of his homeland yesterday. I'm not sure where he got them but the pictures show some of the hardships face by the locals.

Floods in Gaza had added to the problems the embattled people of Gaza is going through. The pledges of billions of dollars made by donor nations to help rebuild Gaza have yet to find their way into the occupied territory. Even if the money find their way into Gaza, where would they find the equipment and material to rebuild the damaged homes, mosques, government offices and schools.

When I was in Gaza, Ali was one of my interpreters and was helpful in taking us around. See the pictures and make your own conclusion.

1. Rakyat yang selalu mengguna jalan tol akan berasa lega kerana kenaikan tol yang diumumkan oleh Menteri Kabinet yang bertanggungjawab, Datuk Seri Mohd Zin akan dikaji semula oleh Kabinet.

3. Apa gamaknya yang telah jadi kepada ekonomi Negara dalam jangka masa tiga minggu. Biasanya sebelum keputusan dibuat oleh Kabinet, maklumat berkenaan aliran ekonomi diberi oleh pakar-pakar untuk jangkasama yang agak panjang, sudah tentu lebih dari tiga minggu. Apakah pakar-pakar ini telah tergesa-gesa lari ke Perdana Menteri tiga minggu selepas keputusan dibuat oleh Kabinet untuk memaklumkan ekonomi merosot begitu teruk dan tol tidak boleh dinaikkan. Apakah mereka menjelaskan bahawa kajian semula tol akan membaikkan keadaan ekonomi. Atau apakah Perdana Menteri membawa perkara ini ke Kabinet dengan data yang cukup tentang keburukan ekonomi sebelum mengumumkan tol perlu dikaji semula. Atau apakah kenaikan ini tidak bijak dibuat semasa beliau masih Perdana Menteri. Tunggu orang lain naik jadi Perdana Menteri dan terpaksa menaikkan tol.

Productive & Balance Life

It was a very good and productive morning for me today...

I sent my son back to his nanny (punjabi family) and his on his way to better english, hindi/punjabi and on his way to be a bollywood superstar!

At 11am i went to Tourism Malaysia checking on my long due answer from the ministry on their confirmation in participating in our hot air balloon fiesta tht will be held IN 12 MORE WORKING DAYS!!!

At 12pm i went 'bulldozing' a 5 star hotel hoping to meet its GM (a close friend have brief the GM on my intentions) to discuss possibility of appointing them as our official hotel for the balloon fiesta (www.myballoonfiesta.com)!

I was lucky... he was in!

We chat for about 15min before we shook hands on our mutual agreement and i confirm at the 16th minute for the hotel to be our official hotel and we were working on details in promoting the events and develop a news worthy stories for keeping the momentum up for the fiesta... and tomorrow at 10am we are meeting again with My partner, Khairudin to discuss on the details....

In my last post i mentioned about ones' sincerity in life...

good intentions + sincereness + fast actions = productive and balance life

I pray that all meetings in my country one day soon will be like today!

There's always a limit in what ever we do in life....

Is it good to have a limit in terms of helping some one in need???

How far does one go to help some one in need???

What is 'needs' nowadays anyway???

Need to survive?

How sometimes i wish the need to survive is like back in 'old' days where u hunt for your food or plant yr own vegetables and fruits.... make your own house either penthouse (tree house) or a simple bangalow a hut) or the easiest way is to look for an instant house...the cave!

But now... one's need is questionable....

Its all bog down to MONEY!

I wonder will the world be fine without the 'introduction' of money.... a system where all are equal and a survival of one is to his or hers initiative to survive...

But is it all about MONEY?

How about sincerity in life?

No point wonder bout things that already happen... a system that could never be change... a survival of one is based on how much MONEY can one obtained...

So... how to survive in this 'money system' made by men?

My ONE WORD answer to this question is SINCERE!

One can be sincere in helping others with the benefit of others...

These simple formula of the sincerity of helping ONE to benefit OTHERS...

Whether its for a simple one's life.... for a town.... for a state... for a country... or even for the mother earth!

One thing for sure i'll always 'fight' for these simple formula to be a reality as i believe the sincerity of one is stronger than MONEY!

1. Waktu saya kecik lebih kurang 70 tahun dahulu saya sering jumpa orang ulu (bukan suku kaum Sarawak), tapi orang ulu Kedah.

2. Ada yang terdiri daripada adik-beradik Mak saya. Ada Tok Karin (loghat Kedah - Kaghin), Lebak, Din, Mak Chah, Mak Bedah, Mak Doh. Orang pekan anggap orang ulu ini agak kolot dan lekeh. Mereka jalan kaki, naik perahu untuk ke pekan Alor Setar (Aloq Staq). Tak pakai kasut pun.

3. Bahasa mereka juga lain daripada bahasa kami orang pekan. Sesungguhnya mereka tak tahu apa. Bawak buah sikit, padi huma, beras pulut, sebagai buah tangan. Kadang-kadang mereka tidur di rumah tak perlu katil, hampar tikar sudah cukup.

4. Di sekolah Inggeris ramai juga anak orang ulu belajar bersama saya. Mula kekok sikit tetapi cepat faham dan guna bahasa Inggeris. Nampak tak bodoh sangat orang ulu ini. Kadang-kadang lulusan lebih baik daripada anak orang pekan.

5. Saya ke universiti. Budak Melayu tak ramai. Tapi di antara mereka ada juga anak orang ulu, terutama di Fakulti Sastera. Lulus Bachelor of Arts (B.A. - Sarjana Muda Sastera) mereka sertai Kerajaan, ramai di Kementerian Luar. Jadi second secretary (setiausaha kedua), first secretary (setiausaha pertama) dan kemudian jadi duta.

6. Boleh juga cakap orang putih dengan orang putih, anak orang ulu ni. Boleh berhujah dan bergaya sebagai Pak Duta.

7. Sebenarnya ramai anak orang ulu yang belajar sehingga dapat Phd. (Doktor Falsafah) di universiti luar negara kembali jadi pegawai tinggi Kerajaan.

8. Sekarang anak orang pekan pun susah nak kerja di luar negeri. Tak suka cocktail party kerana segan nak bercakap. Orang asing nak cakap bahasa lain, kerap kali guna bahasa Inggeris. Tetapi ini bukan masalah. Yang jadi masalah di cocktail party orang minum arak. Sebab itu pegawai tak suka pergi cocktail party.

9. Yang suka pergi cocktail party pegawai bukan Melayu. Mereka boleh bergaul dengan orang asing, bercakap dengan mereka bukan main fasih lagi, dan sudah tentu minum arak. Tetapi berguna juga mereka kerana mereka dapat dengar dan faham pendapat duta-duta asing.

10. Nampak sekarang sama saja - anak orang ulu atau anak orang pekan. Dulu kedua-dua boleh, sekarang kedua-dua pun tak boleh.

11. Pada pengalaman saya sejak 70-tahun dahulu, anak orang ulu ada kebolehan, tak kolot, tak lah lekeh sangat. Bila diberi peluang boleh buat. Anak kawan saya, Hassan Nawin (orang ulu dalam kelas saya) jadi pilot Boeing 747. Ada yang jadi doktor, pakar bedah, peguam, duta dan macam-macam lagi.

12. Rupa-rupanya mereka tak begitu lekeh. Janganlah perlekeh orang kampung, orang ulu dan orang luar bandar. Mereka boleh, kalau diberi peluang. Kalau tak percaya, buat kajian. Yang pegang jawatan tinggi, yang cakap bahasa Inggeris macam orang Oxford siapa? Ramai juga orang ulu.

13. Saya sendiri tak mimpi jadi doktor. Zaman saya di sekolah, doktor Melayu yang saya tahu hanya Doktor Arif, Pulau Pinang.

14. Tetapi saya dapat peluang, dapat juga lulus sampai jadi doktor. Kita serba boleh. Tetapi kalau orang sekat peluang saya mana saya nak tahu saya boleh atau tidak.

15. Demikian nasib orang Melayu bandar dan luar bandar. Dulu Mat Salleh (orang putih) anggap orang Melayu bodoh, tak boleh pegang jawatan. Sekarang orang Melayu sendiri anggap Melayu kampung bodoh.

Dah lama tak jumpa...last was at my Futurist Forum last August...

Saya sekeluarga Doakan Tun and Tun Dr Siti sihat and happy selalu..

I totally agree with your comment that we cant under estimate 'Orang Kampung' or Orang Ulu!
I have the opportunity to conduct motivation talks di Darull Fallah, Jeli Kelantan beberapa tahun yang lalu and the most recent was at SM Sik Kedah last year...

My fav topic is sharing with them my 'simple life journey' (from 10 yrs old to now) in life and also guide them on their personal goal settings...

When ask what are their ambitions.... all have daring ambitions....surgeons,doctors,engineers, businessman and the famous ambition nowadays is semua orang nak jadi angkasawan!:)

When i gave them simple latihan ... giving them a big piece of mahjong paper and a magic color pen... and i told them to visualize and draw their life when they are 50yrs old... 45yrs old... 40 yrs old... 35 yrs old... 30 yrs old...27 yrs old (backward goal settings)....they need to 'draw' Where there will be, what work will they be doing, what do they have, etc...

Some of this kids (13 - 17 yrs old; some of their parents are very very poor..kerja cari kayu api pun ade) drew at one part of the picture there was a big banglow house with word 'di KL' that have a huge parking garage with atleast 4 cars...family members playing and relaxing at the yard.... one part of pic there was KLCC twin tower as a background, orang lidi (themselves) holding a branded mobile phone and a briefcase and a proton perdana car.. parked next to them!
When i ask them to explain one of them said to me "ini saya bang... ini...rumah saya masa saya dah berumur sedikit..45 tahun... saya seorang usahawan yang berjaya... ade rumah besoq dan kereta pun banyoq...ini keluarga saya..isteri saya...anak anak saya dan juga cucu saya yg tengah main di laman rumah....". "Yang ini pulak bang saya masa umur 26-27 tahun dan saya akan bekerja sebagai seorang pengurus dan bekerja di KLCC tower...saya akan ada handphone dan juga kereta perdana" and when i asked him will you help others to achieve these dreams he grandly said "memang la mesti punya".... things like this are best music to my ears and thats why i always accept invitation to speak at all this 'orang kampung' areas so that they to have a chance to be brave in dreaming and visualizing things out from their current limitations...

I live with one principal in life... "Success is when you make some one successfull and rich in his sincerity to make others successfull"... insyAllah life will be calm and meaningfull...

When i was in Sik, Kedah, a teacher shares his initiative to pursuade 'orang ulu' to send their kids to schools... lots of pursuasion done but not many as aspected send their kids as they dont see the importance....

I believe with proper awareness and sincere visits and more 'ceative pursuasions' will encourage more orang ulu to send their kids to schools... u never know...one of these Orang Ulu might lead this country... maybe even better than what we've seen...

i do hope relavant ministries and agencies continue to guide and help them...

Famous motto of a great emperor....

But that was then...

There are no more world to be conquered....

But there are plenty of issues to be 'conquered' and resolved

Today...NOW....Leaders should have these motto:

I heard.... I studied.... I act, promptly!

Leaders .... may it be a leader of a family, a company, an agency, a ministry or even a country should live with this principal.

Inputs should be heard from all levels and from all angles...

Inputs should be studied and comments on those inputs should come from various resources...

Action Plans should be then implemented and monitored; and

Evaluations should be done and best practices should be then implement.... and the circle continues...

I would like to congratulate President OBAMA for trying to make CHANGES for the betterment of lifes...

"I understand these concerns, but I'm confident that we can do things differently and better...'' As president, he said, he expects "to be judged'' by its success.

This is a statement of a true leader!

BUT i do hope that he cares for the fate of the Palestinians and other countries that genuinely need serious help and do not aspect any commercial gains like the past 'president of the world'

I would like to congratulate leaders in MECD and SMIDEC that i see genuinely focused to enhance the operations and survival of 'usahawan' in Malaysia...

I find them to be sincere and 'go the extra mile' in doing their work or in this case their 'responsibilities'... or 'amanah'...

I do hope that the officers that are working with them share the same concern and sincerity and not have a bad mindset of 'what is in it for me' attitude... as this mindset or attitude kills the 'genuine' usahawan...

As i always terms success is when u make some one else successful and rich in his sincerity to help others... now thats is success..insyaAllah...

are we that well... i mean...is the country really in great shape? are all Malaysians leaving in harmony? are all Malaysians got enough money for tomorrow work? are all Malaysians got enough money to pay bills? are poverty in this country really on ground zero?

well if not..where s the news on all the above....

what i see in the news for months now....and now at 4am is still bout only politics... one or two bout the economy but mostly politics...

i believe that the quality of newsdesk is a big ? nowadays...

do we forgot how to care? how to be sincere? how to share?

the physically challenged / disabled people are still facing the bloody same problems and have to go through the day to day obstacles in their life ...and what do we do.... politics~

cummon.... we can do better than that...

I watching the news just now on the news coverage of the Thaipusam celebration....

I might say, i was very happy to see malays, chinese and also foreigners walking about and look happy being there.... no feeling of 'uncomfortableness'... non racist feelings.... all comfortable being Malaysians!

But how far are the rest of Malaysians respecting each others' religion and beliefs???

I think there are so many hypocrite (the big 'H' word) in Malaysia...

Yes..... they are so called respecting other religion or race or belief but amongst themselves they ... well u know...

Will this change? will we change? i know.... lets not answer this now as we all are or we all will eventually be the 'H' word.... unless we respect ourselves....respect each other and trully respect humans of all level...all race...all religion...and all belief!

Me and wife (Indian) was reading one of the local newspapers today and there was an article on mix religion marriage.... one famous couple is Shah Rukh Khan(Islam) and Wife Gouri (Hindu)..

SRK married Gouri on 25 October 1991 for obvious LOVE reasons and understood that respecting each other is the key of ones happiness in life.... They got 2 children Aryan Khan and Suhana.. (i almost name my son Sheikh Faroque Khan..imagine that... his name is Sheikh Sharat Shah)

SRK and Gouri did one thing that impossible to do here in Malaysia... both got married without changing each other's religion... and the marriage was perform in a hindu customs... "Every religion has its own values and i respect it" says SRK.

To respects each others religion SRK puts his Quran and Gouri's hindu deity next to each other and teaches their children to respect all religion and belief in ONE God!

I am very happy this week as we make history today as the 1st 'team' that flies hot air balloon over Putrajaya, Malaysia during our test flights for the timely event, the 1st Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 that will be held on the 19 - 22 March 2009 at presint 2, Putrajaya.

Its timely for Malaysia to host such international unique event such as this to lure tourist and to mark a name in the eye of the world!

We still 'alone' financially as we still did not receive any funding whatsoever from the government even though this event will do so much for the country... why? hmmm... too long a story to explain but lets just focus on why Malaysia government should help us...

Reason no. 1: Credible Organisers!

We organising this as a joint venture effort with Malaysian Sport Aviation Federation (MSAF) and AKA Balloon Sdn Bhd

The Malaysian Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF) was formed on 31st May 2003 after discussion between Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technologies (MIGHT) and the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA) to be a govern body to all sports aviation activities in Malaysia.

The membership of MSAF is open to all associations, clubs and companies registered in Malaysia who directly or indirectly involve in sports aviation activities.

The MSAF is registered with the Federation Aeronautical Internationale (FAI), the world body for sports aviation activities.

Imagine yr logo on the hot air balloons.... 2 effect... 1. good visibility 2. psychologically...damn good motivation impact to the entrepreneur himself...or herself:)
